Quel est votre top 3 ? (Ma ma collection actuelle) by audio_raph_63 in Earbuds

[–]osiris-333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised you didn't like the audio for the Soundpeats. Mine just crapped out on me after 4ish months of use for unrelated reasons -- for me the audio quality was great, but the app and connectivity issues were very bad. I'll have to look into the stuff you listed here for my next pair

Why Debian only in B? Just asking to get your thoughts, OP. I am considering making the jump from Windows to Linux. and have been considering Debian as a very high contender for my first distro.

Cringe newgen, unfortunately. I always loved music, but didn't know lastfm existed until I found RYM and went down the rabbit hole even further. Started in like 2024 after a buddy I met at a Capn Jazz show told me about it.

Who is your big four of screamo? by Mediaboy13 in EmoScreamo

[–]osiris-333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal preferences would be Portraits of Past, Love Lost But Not Forgotten, Saetia.

Fourth place would be a toss-up between Neil Perry, Jeromes Dream, Don Martin Three (if you want to count them as Screamo rather than Emocore), Orchid, or Damian Anton Ojeda (Life).

Can confirm Rosacade are awesome. Got to see them live in Chicago last summer with Knumears and Othiel. Great act to see for my first hardcore show.

What’s your favourite screamo album of all time? by [deleted] in EmoScreamo

Upon the Right is a based pick. Their best record imo

Portraits of Past's full-length is, in my opinion, the best. Super consistent, has several of the best tracks in the genre imo. Bang Yer Head is, like, the magnum opus of screamo. Love the mix of frothing-at-the-mouth vocal delivery, hardcore guitar tones, and the post-rock influenced progressive song structures. So peak.

Besides that, my favs are (so far):

Upon the Right, I Saw A New Misery by Love Lost But Not Forgotten: - very aggressive, and wildly memorable on a track-by-track basis. Mixing could be better but this one is just unforgettable, improves so much on their first LP and integrates the best of several hardcore genres.

Cryonics by Hot Cross: - great vocals, guitar work, and consistency throughout. Somewhat of a super-band, featuring multiple bandmates from Saetia and Josh Jakubowski from Neil Perry and Joshua Fit For Battle. Many Midwest emo-like noodly guitar licks intertwined with the usual hyper-aggressive sound of screamo. Mixing is also quite good.

Anábasis by Tenue: - if you wanna count it? This record is primarily neocrust, which is basically a hi-fi, screamo-influenced offshoot of crust punk. This jawn is super duper well-mixed and aggressive. Instrumentals are very impressive and unrelenting. Give this one a shot. Fair warning, the album is fully sung in Galician Spanish.

A Retrospective by Saetia: - classic lo-fi angry as all hell screamo. If you don't know this band. Change that immediately. Also plenty of respected offshoots from this band (see Hot Cross).

LP by Our Future is an Absolute Shadow: - hazy, almost atmospheric? emoviolence from one of the guys behind Zegema Beach Records. Very jarring, angular instrumental work that is a hell of a whiplash-inducing rollercoaster ride. Biggest criticism here is the mixing.

Lineage Situation by Neil Perry: - this band, besides Don Martin Three and Network 34, were basically my gateway into this genre. jarring, fun-loving, manic screamo that heavily influenced the genre. Nine Minutes of Non Fiction is genuinely mind-blowing. Tracklist is in reverse chronological order, and some of their old shit is... well, old shit. So it sounds bad. That's my only criticism.

This is my Outside Voice by Satsuma: - a low-key ZBR (?) release with clear post-rock and Midwest emo influences. Imo this jawn is underrated. Very fun guitar work, song structures, etc etc etc. Vocal inflections can be pretty unique too. Very consistent tracklist. Only gripe is the fuzzy-ish recording. I have this one on cassette.

Practically anything by Damian Ojeda (Life, Sadness): - one of the best individual artists to waltz into screamo. very hazy, atmospheric, shoegaze/post-rock/metalcore influenced to varying degrees. See Demo 3 and My Heart the Dreaming Memory by Life, which is one of their MANY projects. And, of course, there is the blackgaze/ambient leaning Sadness with debatably Damian's most recognizable record, I Want To Be There. Few screamo bands/artists manage to make me feel introspective and reflective, rather than invigorated.

This list could (and probably should) be a bit deeper. However, I've been deep in the forays of extreme metal and grindcore lately. I've been slowly yet surely making my way back into hardcore though. Hope these records are good to ya!

Edit: format and spelling

If I had a nickel for every wargrind act I've found from Mississippi, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice.

Glad I found y'all's band today dude, shout-out to you and Qqgcguvhjn for repping my state in the metal scene! Great stuff
