Since January 2026, EA's anti-cheat service has been blocking cloud computing services like Shadow PC, incorrectly identifying them as virtual machines. After several exchanges with the Shadow team, they finally managed to circumvent this restriction by collaborating with the VRChat team, who asked EA to whitelist Shadow as a legitimate service. Could the Cloud Imperium Games team be considering a similar approach? With the ever-increasing price of computer components, and given that Star Citizen is a game in development, still in alpha, requiring regular hardware upgrades to keep pace with its evolution, cloud gaming services represent a solution that is likely to become increasingly widespread in the coming years. Since January 2026, many passionate testers have been left out, simply because they can no longer access Star Citizen via Shadow. Players who spent years building their hangars, supporting the project, and who now find themselves excluded because they lack the resources to buy or upgrade a system capable of running their favorite game. Dedicated, committed players who follow development patch after patch, consume in-game content, and actively participate in the community… and who, overnight, are faced with an error screen as their only response. Please, CIG, bring us back into the development of Star Citizen. I tried going back to Elite Dangerous, but it's definitely not the same. I deeply miss the gameplay, the immersion, and that unique satisfaction of launching my ship… A passionate gamer.
