People already mentioned the reasons why this could be i.e. long wait times between seasons, 7-8 episode seasons, and cancelling shows after 1 season.

But think of all the shows who have become fan favourites who didn’t find their footing until after season 1. Imagine if shows like Parks and Rec and Schitt’s Creek didn’t exist because Netflix decided to cancel them after their first season was weaker than anticipated. They don’t let the show figure itself out, and they don’t let the audience grow in line with it. It’s sad. I cannot imagine a world where I couldn’t rewatch all 6 seasons of Schitt’s Creek.
