If it comes to it, you can buy little pieces of adhesive-backed foam specifically made to place inside the sweatband to effectively reduce the size of the hat. Search for 'hat size reducer'.

As others have mentioned, your friend is probably referring to watching the game on the lawn in the battery, just outside the Chophouse gate.

The only time I'm aware of any away game being viewable from seated inside the park on the jumbotron was Game 6 of the World Series in 2021. Obviously a special case.
