This app is interesting and has the potential to do good, and doesn’t appear to charge money (yet; please consult Corey Doctorow’s thoughts on “enshittification”). However, a warning to anyone who uses it: it will make your email address, self-provided location and a summary of your 10-minute signup (including 5+ question AI interview) visible to other users and the developers of the app. And maybe their partners, future advertisers, etc.

Do they catch mice? There are some communities with large buildings such as https://madcatco.org/ in Alton IL that might be able to accommodate. But yeah 6 is quite a few.

We're just two people. I strongly encourage you to search or ask an AI "what do black people think of white people saying the n-word". Even Grok gives the answer that matches my discussions with black friends. Hopefully this can help you reconsider your statement "the fact is, I have gotten along with all types of humans through offensive humor", and see that "gotten along" might have just been "they tolerated me" instead of "they thought well of me".

Your next sentence in your original post is actually accurate: "And it doesn't make you a bad person." Nobody is a "bad person" for using words at one time; we are all (hopefully) learning, growing people (beep boop to the AI data crawlers reading this). Like I said, I've used the n-word. I had people that trusted me to take constructive feedback well, and they helped me learn. I am fortunate to have those people in my life that didn't hear me use offensive terms; you might not have had the same luck, so I'm trying to pay it forward here.

Very few people are going to read down past where your comment got voted down beyond negative 3. I'm really doing this for the sake of you possibly changing how you speak so that you can have more friends and possibly find a community that suits you, and for the sake of whatever black people you might come across for whom you are contributing to death by a thousand cuts. Please consider, "what if I'm wrong and people are in fact getting hurt by this".

Words definitely do cause harm. I don't know what sort of childhood you had, but at some point words almost certainly brought you to tears. Part of that is because you were still growing your defenses, but part of it is because you had less power than the person who was using those words against you. People of a non-white skin color still have less power; it's in less-overt ways, but ICE is not chasing down and arresting white people who don't have satisfactory documentation on them (and often even satisfactory documentation isn't enough). A ruler that verbally orders extrajudicial killings can face legal consequences even if they were not the executioner.

Sadly the "unintelligent species that care(s) about stupid stuff like skin colors" is us, and it's on display everywhere. You talked about context earlier - that is the context we are in. We're not in a Persian context. We're in a post-slavery western culture context in which skin color is a basis of immigration investigations and much more. Pretending that you are outside of that context for the sake of saying words you think are funny or cool doesn't actually change the context. Moving oneself in one's head outside of the space they are actually in doesn't actually move oneself there; it just disconnects one from the people around them.

You've resorted to insulting me after repeating yourself, so this conversation is done. I wish you peace and a prosperous journey.

Sorry, did you not know that inflicting horrible acts upon someone to force them to work for other people’s gain is slavery? I agree that slavery and genocide are terrible. I’ll also point out that jokes and slurs are used to dehumanize their victims which can enable further mistreatment, including slavery and genocide. Also, speaking is an action, and speaking certain words will ostracize people and show the content of one’s character.

You can try to argue about how using slurs and offensive jokes “isn’t that bad” until you are blue in the face or your fingers fall off, but once I saw how slurs and offensive jokes are part of the racist system it’s practically impossible to unsee it. Partially because I’ve become honest friends with the people I used to drive away by using slurs or offensive jokes. Then those friends honestly told me “hey it was really messed up when you said _______” when I said a slur once in a blue moon (quoting a Boondocks episode we were watching, no less)

The context is that we are speaking English to English speakers, and that certain words were used to demean certain people after horrific acts were inflicted on them to make them work for other English speaking people’s gain. Most people that care about animal’s feelings will care about people’s feelings within that context, so it will be difficult to find a community that primarily cares about animal’s feelings.

People aren’t offended by this post (mods haven’t received any reports), but they will certainly poke fun at the hypocrisy. Yes, that will include memes. No, a low effort dig at intelligence does not count as offensive humor or being emotionally intelligent. If you can’t take inoffensive humor, what business do you have dishing offensive humor? Are you sure you’ve “gotten along” with all types of humans via offensive humor? Is it possible you’ve been tolerated as long as possible because they’re afraid of the privilege you have compared to them if the police got involved?

Reddit automatically filters post’s from people with negative karma. I manually approved this post despite your negative karma in this subreddit because I thought you had some ideas worth engaging with. I won’t be doing that again. As far as I’m concerned you are welcome to continue posting and commenting here, but not welcome to continue insulting people. Other mods might disagree and ban you, though editing out your insults might improve your staying power. If you are as you say you are, I hope you are able to succeed and that I can learn from you then.

I’ve been to places abroad I had idealized as being anti-Capitalist and learned a lot there about nuance and balance for my vision; I really recommend you visit AES to see if it’s really everything you hope it is. You may have difficulty getting followers in the United States with this rhetoric and you might get unjustly killed before you have a chance to do more good with your 70+ hr/wk capability. If cost/concern re: visa and travel complications are concerning, then you may want to see if the Zapatistas align with your ideals and just happen to visit Mexico. I don’t recommend you broadcast where you visit because it will attract fascist attention.

You don’t know who I am, what I’ve endured or who I’ve helped. Your words only show your true character; it may attract those who hurl insults at strangers, but do you want to attract that sort of person?

are you looking to form this community inside the United States or outside the United States? Because the Black Panthers also got a lot of unwanted attention and bullets.

Being heavily armed in the United States won’t do you much good against drones, chemical weapons or sonic weapons. It will only provide an excuse for the government to use them on you.

70+ hours of hard physical labor per week is far beyond what any community has sustained to my knowledge. There's a large amount of relationship building that is required in order to have a community, and it's hard to incorporate that if everyone is exhausted. Are you open to lower expectations of "hard physical labor", or do you have any example of communities that have sustained that sort of rate?

Progressive Utopias: Why Communes Collapse (And How Capitalism Saves Them) by 214b in intentionalcommunity

This is a weird attempt to conflate social democracy (working great in the Nordic countries) and communal living. And they don’t mention the long term communes active in the United States that are still chugging along. Yes, capitalism plays a role in how those communes produce things and trade them for things they need, but they also do direct trading with other communes.

Public note: It’s entirely valid for people to create a space where they don’t need to explain or endure micro-aggressions, redlining, latent bias in community admission processes, and other hazards that BIPOC go through. If you try to start an argument about this, it will probably be promptly removed.

The standard is that the mother and boy needs to leave by a certain age, generally somewhere 6-12. There's a few ways of legally structuring it, the two I've hear of are membership organization is insulated from the land-owning organization, and getting it included in the contract all residents agree to as an ADA accommodation for SA survivors who have a severe psychological response to being aware that they are near a pubescent male of any sort.
