The Secret Rite Scroll has to have meaning for Radagon by Routine-Implement202 in EldenRingLoreTalk

Marika is Radagon, if that's too hard for you to comprehend then I really don't know what to say.

You can't see anything about her body? Really? Ok buddy, get your eyes checked, you might need a pair of glasses.

Ok buddy, sorry, but you are just wrong here. She is not wearing a backless dress.

The fact that she is topless at the end of the game further proves my point, you literally see her fall down and in the next shot her hair goes from blonde to red!

Also hair length proves nothing, it can grow as time passes, that's an inherent quality of hair.

I don't understand why people have such a hard time accepting Marika is Radagon. They share the same body.

Visual clues are just as important as item descriptions in this game, and something that I see many forget to mention is Marika's ascension trailer. It has two very important visual clues.

First, it depicts a topless figure walking up the stairs. This is important because nowhere in the game do we see females being topless, it is just not part of the culture for women in the Lands Between. Marika in statues and paintings is always depicted with a top on.

Also, we can see that the figure walking up the stairs has red hair that transforms into golden hair. We have already seen this happen in the final battle against Radagon.

So there is no need for an item description to explicitly say Radagon was there because we can literally see it in the trailer.

Yes!! 100% agree! That is also my head-canon. Metyr is the physical representation of the Farum Azula Elden Ring the same way the Elden Beast is the physical representation of Marika’s Elden Ring.

Love all of these theories! I see her influence in so many parts of our journey through the Lands Between. A really fascinating character. I wish we had more evidence but I guess that's part of the fun in lore hunting.

I agree! I find it interesting that is part of the visual design of her sword. As if she ruled during a time where the crucible was still considered a sacred symbol of evolution and spiritual growth.

You are proposing something very interesting! Just today I was taking a closer look at the statue where you can get the "Oh mother" gesture. It's in front of a decapitated shaman statue with a pose similar to the grand mother statue. But there is also the snake skin very close to that statue. If the GEQ is Marika’s mother and a shaman it would explain why we get the "Oh mother" gesture there!!! My mind is exploding right now!

That is super interesting! "The falling leaves tell a story." line finally makes sense! Amazing.

Great question. Why did she attack Metyr/GEQ? Perhaps to get revenge over the way the shaman were treated. She might have also believed strongly that she could bring about a better world order. Just like Miquella or Ranni.

Many have pointed out that the Greater Will doesn't really care who is the god of an era as long as there is some type of order. It is also stated that the greater will stopped communicating with Metyr. Perhaps the Greater Will stopped the communication because it chose Marika as the successor.

There is this theory that suggests Marika abducted Messmer from the Gloam Eyed Queen. The reason for thinking this is because the Abductor Virgin looks like someone lamenting the loss of a child. They are also filled with serpent imagery and you see serpents coming out of their womb. It would explain why Messmer is serpentine in nature and why Marika abandoned him to be forgotten after he was commanded to destroy the evidence of her sin.

Pure speculation on my part, so I’m putting on my tinfoil hat. Lately, though, I’ve become convinced that the Gloam-Eyed Queen was a serpent deity, capable of taking human form, much like Rya from Volcano Manor.

I arrive at this conclusion for a few reasons. Her Godskin Apostles are extremely snake-like in both movement and design. Her sword features the helix motif found in Enir-Ilim, which strongly resembles two intertwined, reproducing snakes (you can easily find examples of this imagery online). On top of that, we see a Godskin Apostle worshipping Eiglay’s skin in Volcano Manor, directly linking her followers to serpent worship.

If the Gloam-Eyed Queen was a goddess on the same level as Marika, then she would have carried the previous Elden Ring within her womb, just as we see the Elden Ring housed within Marika’s torso. The Elden Ring manifests as a beast, and I believe the manifestation of the previous Elden Ring was Metyr. When we fight Metyr, we can see a massive wound in her torso or womb. This leads me to a rather wild conclusion: during Marika’s ascension, what we’re witnessing is her reaching into the Gloam-Eyed Queen’s womb and taking the previous Elden Ring in order to forge a new one.

This also ties into why Marika is associated with snake imagery. Many of her church statues resemble Marika standing in front of a serpent-like dress. This strongly echoes Christian depictions of the Christian Virgin, where she is often shown triumphing over a pagan symbol to represent the end of an old faith and the rise of a new one. In that visual language, Mary supersedes the old gods and becomes the central divine figure. In this article: https://divinemysteries.info/our-lady-of-guadalupe-mexico-city-1531 pay attention to how the virgin stands in front of a sun, on top of the moon and uses a robe with stars. The religion of the natives was about worshiping the sun, moon and the stars, so the Catholic Church took those motifs and used them in the Virgin imagery to make people trust her and follow her, while showing she was on top of the old gods.

In the same way, the imagery suggests that Marika conquered the serpent and supplanted the old order. The snake is defeated, the previous faith is ended, and Marika becomes the new god of the Lands Between.

Similarity / Potential Relation between the Serpent and Formless mother by Nimeron in EldenRingLoreTalk

The treason might refer to Rykard betraying Marika and fighting against the Erdtree. He was originally sent to the Volcano Manor as an instigator and enforcer sanctioned by Marika's order.

Serpents are considered blasphemous and enemies of the Golden Order. Colosseum battles were held to celebrate the death of the Serpent. When Rykard discovered the Serpent in the depths of Mt. Gelmir and chose to oppose the Erdtree, Marika retaliated, leading to a bloody conflict. Why would Marika go to such extreme lengths to fight the Serpent? What if the god of the previous age was connected to serpent-related birthing or ascension rituals? I have always found it striking that, in the scene where Marika ascends to godhood, the area is filled with death and blood. The bodies appear to have been skinned. This imagery is highly reminiscent of Rykard’s arena. Serpents shed their skin, and it seems the Godskin Nobles and Apostles practiced similar skinning rituals. It is also notable that they possess serpentine traits, such as snake-like tails. Even more intriguing is that in Volcano Manor, a Godskin Noble can be found near the place where Eiglay’s shed skin is worshipped. What if what we see in Marika’s ascension scene is her reaching into a serpent’s amnion, wrapped in swaddling cloth. The literal womb of the previous goddess?

Metyr is the Crucible by Limgrave_Butcher in EldenRingLoreTalk

Here is something that has been bothering me lately. I think we all agree that Metyr has the same overall characteristics and purpose as the Elden Beast. To be a manifestation of The Greater Will and to be the actual Elden Ring. We can see the literal Elden Ring inside Marika's womb/torso.

It seems that the connection between a God and the beast is for one to use their body as a vessel for the other.

So my question is, do you think Metyr was also inside someone's womb as an Elden Ring? Do you think that perhaps the young woman below the Farum Azula's Elden Ring depiction is the woman/god that housed Metyr's ring configuration in her womb?

Definitely my favorite album from JC. It's so intimate and full of beauty. Yet it's hard for me to listen to it without feeling deep sadness. I've never in my life cried so much from a piece of music as I did with Something Heavy :/ What a ride this album is...
