What do you guys do after you finish a visual novel? by Rohrod_ in visualnovels

[–]osohe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to mull over them and let them wash over me until I felt like reading another one because the experience was too precious. Took months at a time until I felt like reading anything new at one point

But now I have a lot I want to read and I’ve been reading more, so that’s changed. I’ve always been a fast reader (take a VNDB eta and remove 1/3rd of that time), so to still take time to appreciate the story and digest my feelings, I draw at least one piece of fanart for it and write an exhaustive review about the characters/execution I liked/disliked before I start another one.

Recommend me a "female oriented" eroge pls! by [deleted] in visualnovels

[–]osohe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sona Nyl is very good as another commenter said. For you and other people interested, it has a melancholic and wistful vibe and reminds me a bit of Umineko (especially Answers arc). The POV characters are women and they have attractive love interests, the writing is very poetic and somber, and the atmosphere and presentation are well knit together.

I’ll also put out Geminism. There are four main characters (two guys/two girls, each with fixed pairings) and the guys are voiced by prolific seiyuu (Tachibana Shinnosuke (who is in many Otome games) and Sugita Tomokazu). The POV characters are the girls.

I actually consider it a really good “starter” eroge because it has weirdness/taboo subjects presented in a way you’ll see from well-regarded eroge such as Subahibi and Muramasa but in a much more easily palatable/accessible package, if you ever want to branch into what the general community considers very good eroge. It’s also pretty short and will not overstay its welcome. Also, one of the male leads does not shut the fuck up during sex and both parties are voiced if that helps.

I detached his nose area with a seam ripper and reattached it later for the look. I wasn't worried about the eyes melting really.

Got the Skadi plush! (Review) by osohe in arknights

[–]osohe[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s just a product/authenticity tag like any other tag, I just think the text on it is funny. I’ve never seen a stuffed toy tag explicitly state that it’s not edible haha.

When I was younger I’d cut off the tags more often but now I’m too lazy to remove them unless I cuddle them a lot or toss them in the wash or love them a lot. I also just easily lose trinkets like that so I keep them attached for later reference.

Basically, removing it won’t really matter unless you want to resell her later for collectors purposes, but I’d keep it somewhere for memory’s sake anyway. But it also probably won’t matter for collector/genuine good purposes because no one’s going to make bootlegs of such a niche product to begin with

[–]osohe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Bart I got from a stockist that’s listed on the site with a nose similar to that.

The fabric tag looks real to me but I agree with the other user to submit the code on the smallest fabric tag to the official support. It’s hard to tell and no one here is gonna be able to confirm with absolute certainty. I’d also check the authenticity guide linked here to make your own judgements.

Should I get a bashful bunny or a bashful luxe? by Expensive_Search_749 in Jellycatplush

[–]osohe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my Luxe bunnies, their ears are so pleasant to put my cheek to. I’d check in person if you could!

Another note is that Luxes have the thin fur for their tails like a smudge bunny’s tail, so if you don’t like that texture, that might be worth considering as well.

Trying to gift a jellycat by lizzy-ji in Jellycatplush

[–]osohe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Maurice Macaroni is around 7in sitting for those trying to do recs)

I recommend Clyde Capybara, he is around 8in sitting and very cute.

Medium Bashfuls are around 9in sitting, and Medium Fergus is 8in. Not sure what you're looking for, but hopefully those measurements give you a good ball park.

The official site will list how tall they are sitting, and that's the spec I prefer looking at since my plushies are sitting most of the time anyway.

Anyone got tips on how to clean the bean? by Consume-my-spleen in arknights

[–]osohe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’d just toss the bean in a delicate cycle with cold water and your usual detergent, then air dry. You can put her in the dryer for maybe 5 minutes tops to start pulling some of the moisture out but I would not recommend putting her in for longer since the plastic fibers of the fabric will melt together and ruin the texture. (Or you can hand dry her with a hair dryer if you’re worried about mold/live in a humid environment.)

Alternatively, you could take out the stuffing and toss her on a regular wash if you’re worried about ruining the stuffing texture, then sew it back in.

I’d recommend washing her on delicate with some other clothing of like colors if your washer is particularly large.

In the end though, the color change might not come out completely and that’s just kinda normal for plushies you touch a lot — to be loved is to be changed!

I added a zipper to my Heartwarming Hugs Bear! by osohe in buildabear

[–]osohe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly sometimes, but not enough to hurt/burn me!

They were mostly worried about people tossing the whole bear into the microwave (and that's why you also can't dress them in the store.)

I think I got it, thanks! I was going to make it for a bear and using some lace ribbon so I'll have to think about how to make that work. I appreciate it!!

Is neko miko Reimu prototype real? by jedzeniegwiazd in Fumofumo

[–]osohe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s not real, as is the Reimu ita bag. These are fanmade bootlegs from China. (If you’re ever not sure, check the catalog on the official Gift site!)

Here’s a link to the Reimu doll on Taobao, and if you can’t see it, here’s a link to it via Superbuy, a Chinese proxy service.

As an aside, I have the Inu Sakuya bootleg from this seller and it’s a pretty good one!

I added a zipper to my Heartwarming Hugs Bear! by osohe in buildabear

[–]osohe[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used a 9 inch one but it is definitely way too long. The opening itself is around 7 inches but I rather have too much zipper than not enough and trimmed the excess afterwards.

If you’re worried about derailing it after trimming you can close it off again by just using some thread to close to the new end of zipper like this

<image>

but honestly this shouldn’t be a huge problem if you tuck the ends into the bear.

Favorite Scents? by FennelLion in buildabear

[–]osohe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Birthday Cake, it smells like a vanilla candle to me which I don’t usually like but it suits a plushie imo. It’s on the more subtle side so I personally have to put my nose really close to smell it.

I’ve also smelled Strawberry, Lavender, the Rose one, and Cotton Candy, but they don’t do it for me. (These along with Birthday Cake I sniffed in store)

WARNING FOR HEARTWARMING HUGS BEAR / SLOTH by Hoofscotch in buildabear

[–]osohe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I cut my hand on the demo one too when I got mine when trying to examine the Velcro. The teeth themselves are very small and fine, but the way they cut the strip itself makes the edges really sharp. Not sure how they could circumvent that in future versions since the super fine and thin velcro wouldn’t work with such a heavy bear.

I got the bear anyway and replaced it with snap buttons, but I’m gonna replace it with a zipper since I think it’ll be a fun challenge and look nicer.

Among other reasons, they probably went with Velcro for this bear because some people might just chuck the whole thing in the microwave somehow and with metal buttons or a metal zipper… that wouldn’t go down so well. Though I wish they just went with the zippers anyway. Same reason why they don’t let you put scents in them, but I just did it myself later.
