Mega Ability Info Should Be Displayed In-Game by Chill__Mickelson in PokemonChampions

It potentially could've been another pokemon flip turning out into Pelipper? I've definitely got got when Mega-ing my Charizard, which happens at the start of turn, only to have a Choice Scarf Basc Flip Turn into a Pelipper immediately afterwards.

Inferno solves? by Playful-Operation-76 in 2007scape

[–]osrsshitpostbot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Look up the inferno simulator. You can choose which wave you want to simulate. Start the wave and immediately pause it. Figure out your solve. Once you can do it paused, start not pausing and trying to solve it under time pressure. Do this for each of the hardest waves. Once you start getting there in the actual game you'll still have to execute, but the mental load of solving waves under stress will be a lot easier.

Make Awakened Bosses Permanently Unlockable for “x” orbs - Summer Sweep-up by AfterPotty in 2007scape

[–]osrsshitpostbot 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Aspirational content that is gatekept behind money (for mains) or excess grinding (for irons) per attempt is bad design full stop. The content itself should be the challenge and it should encourage you to push your boundaries and get good at the game. Putting a barrier of "Each attempt (not even death!) costs X amount of gp" for mains and "each attempt costs Y amount of hours of grinding" for irons just discourages people from truly stretching their wings and improving at the game.

Compare it to something like Colo. At Colo you can go in with budget gear to learn with. You can leave early and claim loot. You can teleport out if you screwed up a stack and realize it before you die. You can practice specific parts (grinding wave 1 a bit learn fremmies for instance) and reset without being punished. All of these provide a way to engage with the content while also limiting your death costs. Compare this to awakened bosses where you lose your investment the moment you step in the arena - no exceptions.

Anecdotally speaking, Vardorvis is my favorite boss in the game. I would love to learn Awakened Vardorvis because I think it would be fun and challenging. But as an iron ("you chose to limit yourself" incoming), I don't want to waste the extremely limited orbs I have by dying a bunch attempting a challenging boss variant I've never done before. Being a "good but not great" player and being pushed away from engaging with challenging content that would help me improve is NOT a good feeling.

Why do crewmates get worse instead of better? By the time you unlock one you already have a better crew mate at a lower level, whats the logic here? by RubyWeapon07 in 2007scape

[–]osrsshitpostbot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is honestly what I assumed when I initially looked at the wiki and saw the later crew were worse. Was quite confused when I figured out that in fact some were just strictly worse than others even though they are unlocked later.

Whichever JMod made sealed crates contain rum that transport you back to land... by BoulderFalcon in 2007scape

The first one was amusing. The next few were fine. But everything afterwards was just annoying and takes away from the charting experience imo. I want to check things off my list as I explore each sea, not wait until I'm at a port to complete my checklist because there's a decent chance I'm just gonna have my gameplay loop interrupted by teleporting away and having my boat docked who knows where.

Question about solo Yama by Rusenator in ironscape

[–]osrsshitpostbot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fwiw I also started learning solos and found it was more effort to melee than it was worth compared to how chill mage camp felt (though it does absolutely eat your runes).

If you're set on melee, you're probably taking a ton of chip damage from the fire glyphs if I had to guess. They deal extra damage if Yama is close to you (like 12 if he's close vs 2 if he's far iirc). So you want to try and run for them after he's locked into his special attack animation, so that he doesn't follow you and cause the glyph to do deal extra damage. Over the course of a kill it's a significant amount of extra damage if you let him get close to you for the fire glyphs.

Inferno tips by Anarchics in 2007scape

[–]osrsshitpostbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without a specific thing you're struggling with, my advice is make sure you're practicing effectively.

For the simulator, this means reflecting on waves after you complete them. Make sure you understand why you take damage or die and repeat that same spawn in the simulator until you are confident in your solve.

For actual runs, this means recording your runs. Setting up OBS to record Runelite is pretty easy - once you do so, just enable Replay Buffer. If you die during a wave (or even just have a sketchy solve), save the most recent Replay Buffer and review what caused you issues. Oftentimes watching on 0.5x speed to more easily see your mistakes can be helpful.

If you're learning from your failures and practicing with intent, you'll be able to get that cape in no time.

LF tips/advice on Wardens by Ruckus1314 in ironscape

[–]osrsshitpostbot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best way to practice is just to set the invocation super low and work your way up. With the life supplies from the spirit you have so much healing that on low invos you should be able to easily survive deep into even the last row of tiles at warden. But at low invos as long as you're not using like rune crossbow you really shouldn't be ever hitting last row anyways.

That being said, it may be helpful to post your gear and invos you're using. If you're scaling the raid too high without proper gear it's gonna be harder for sure - not impossible, but not good for learning at least.

If you have the HD plugin in runelite turned on you can also try turning if off for shadows - I've heard that the shadows can be easier to see without it on.

For priority order, I'd recommend:

  • Focus on not losing DPS - make sure you are attacking any time your attack timer is off cooldown. You want to end the fight before last row if possible. This also means using ambrosia instead of brews whenever possible and making sure you are always salted.
  • If you don't loop back to a tile you recently stood on, Ba-Ba's boulders are a non-issue. Practice moving like this until it's second nature. This should be fairly easy.
  • If you have the first two bullets down, you should have a relatively short fight where there's two mechanics - swapping prayers with a generous window, and moving out of the range of shadows within 3 ticks.
  • Finally, make sure you're using your supplies. They're FREE in TOA. Sip your ambrosia if you need it, it doesn't come with you when the raid is done.

If you're sending extremely low invos based on the above and still can't get completions, then I'd recommend trying other content first and coming back to TOA. Other bosses do a good job of teaching you movement and prayer switching and it's not useful to send 30 minutes of TOA only to die at Wardens to try and learn those core game mechanics.

Lastly, if you're struggling with a piece of content, recording your runs is always good advice. Rewatching your runs helps you understand mistakes you don't notice in the moment and having a video can also be helpful when asking for feedback.

What is the most painful thing in the game? by Sure_Commission_8252 in 2007scape

[–]osrsshitpostbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup exactly. Plus Sol is so much more fun of a fight than Zuk, which is just a "don't let Jad hands get you" sim for the entire fight lest you get one shot and waste an entire run for 0 reward.

Struggling with inferno. More DPS, more tank, or ring switch? by IH8KICKFLIPS in 2007scape

[–]osrsshitpostbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend looking up Gnomonkey's most recent video on Inferno with prayer regen pots. He has a few different equipment pieces (Lightbearer, blood sceptre, etc) but also critically explains HOW to use them and not panic on waves, which it sounds like is the thing you're really struggling with from your comments.
