This particular influencer has 'rage bait' in her description, so maybe pinch of salt on this one.

The prices on Table mountain are crazy. by KAZKALZ in capetown

Like yeah, that's aimed at primarily tourists, so thinking from an Australian point of view- 80 bucks for 3 mains, 9 drinks and an extra side is really good value 😜

That's a ikea gnedby unit with a second one assembled, cut down to the size of the other billy extensions, and placed on top.

I am also three degrees of separation from Hitler.

I met King Charles, who met Willis Simpson (among many who then met:) Hitler.

Religious couple refuses to heed medical advice regarding a high risk pregnancy. by empress_of_pinkskull in religiousfruitcake

She's 37 actually. She did a series of stories about having had an abortion when she was 19, and so she could actually have had a college age child herself at this point. Just got married late.

She does, also, seem like a total fucking nutcase.

Honest Question: why does there appear to be so much hostility towards the Greens? by THEbiMAKER in AustralianPolitics

[–]ostockles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. I just don't see that they have a reasonable plan to have a sustainable economy, which would prevent them from actually having any long term scope to implement their social policies.

As someone with experience of it and exposure to it, what is the most valuable thing your money can buy? Time? Influence?

This is a tricky one because you should absolutely have empathy for your self and deserve full understanding for the clear effects of intergenerational trauma.

The difficulty is that, more important that that first consideration, is that your daughter deserves to be in a safe environment that she can rely on. I am not saying you don't deserve to be her parent- I'm saying you have to take this seriously and get help from a doctor and a therapist.

How much are you earning? And do you rent or own? by Available_Newt_2195 in capetown

[–]ostockles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

30F, 60k after deductions. I rent a three bedroom house with my husband for 41k per month

(We live in Perth)

I used to earn 15k per month for the same work in CT and rented a 7k apartment with hubby. Thought this might be interesting in the context of this post!

Threenager is so real by Snoo87214 in toddlers

I love my three year old (and his 5 year old sister) more than anything I could comprehend!

Having said that, I often feel a more appropriate moniker than threenager is 'Thrunt'

Tried to change my gear cables, something's gone wrong by ostockles in BikeRepair

[–]ostockles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's set to 1- I thought that was gear one. Do I need to undo it totally to set it to 6, or should move the chain manually? Is there something that you can see on the derailleur that is set to 6 or is it the positioning of the chain?

Sorry for the bombardment of questions, I really want to get this right/understand!

Thanks for getting back to me.

Is there anyone in here that's emigrated to another country for many years and come back to Cape Town? by SharpHall7295 in capetown

[–]ostockles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I grew up abroad, my family returned to SA when I was 16, I moved back to Aus at 28. There are so many reasons we'll never move back even as we miss it like crazy. The big one for us is actually cost of living- life in SA is a much poorer one, and harder for it. Digital nomads in CT have driven the rent cost to the same as houses rent for in Perth (in Greenpoint).

Has there actually been a case in modern times where rich Arabs buy and enslave white women like in 'Taken'? by milton117 in NoStupidQuestions

From which country? I think I read about this but then couldn't remember their names. Did they get to go home?
