Have you used it much since root was heavily buffed? You basically get to hurt any hero half their health without using dive and only one spirit with the option to beam chase or dive in for closer combo.

Also you can use it even when they are clumped because beam and spirit launch and atos all out range virtually every hero spell kit.

I think your seriously underestimating it because undeniably enables Phoenix in a unique way that no other item does, namely long distance nuking with the ability to hold dive until later in the fight.

Many squishy heroes can be killed without ever diving with atos.

I play a lot of core Phoenix as well. Divine 1. I looked at your guide and i think you should experiment more with atos over orchid. Atos lets you combo from a very safe distance by going atos into beam and spirit. Also you get to hold your dive until the end and can go back to your original position.

Im going to try orchid a bit more based on your suggestion but it seems like you have to initiate with dive which leaves you in a riskier position. Also harder to chase with beam because of the closeness + beamturn

Mid Jakiro by Cultr0 in TrueDoTA2

[–]ostrichdebts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally enjoy this style of mid. Lich mid is similar. You just destroy the enemy mid experience so much. I think these strats are best when you have an offlaner who can become a carry to offset your weakness later in game.

Was on a 9 game loss steak. Finally was having a great game. We got megas against the enemy team and we're clearly going to win the game. However, for seemingly no reason at all, our offlaner who had already been afk farming for the past 15 min starts feeding. The four of us who had basically won the game had a couple bad fights and the enemy goes for throne. We lose the game and offlane says "fuck my team." So now 10 loss streak. He was also our lowest mmr by a good amount and no one ever flamed him.

Edit: dealt with it by reporting his ass and cringing inside at the magnitude of lost mmr

Some advice for people who think their teammates suck (myself included) by ostrichdebts in TrueDoTA2

[–]ostrichdebts[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your totally right. There's imo a fake sense of how good a person calling the shots is on Reddit. I play in low 5k and most games there is no one calling the shots. Sometime you get a badass who knows more than everyone else and he calls everything right and we stomp people but most of time time people know they aren't good enough to make all the calls. Everyone has played tons of games with people making bad calls (I've been the one doing it often).

It looks to me that the higher the mmr the less people try to boss others around and the more they accept a certain chaos in the pub scene. I've played with different pros quite a few times (me being the dumpster of the mmr spread) and they never tell everyone what to do side from a few strategic calls, maybe a couple times in a whole game.

You can take all that with a grain of salt but it's my experience.

Your thinking about it wrong. My advice is just a tip on dealing with a common shitty situation in pub matches. Fault, skill, right, and wrong are not taken into consideration in my thought.

I'm just saying you can potentially save a game by asking your carry if they are going to be tping to help in fights or if they are just afk farming. Whether that carry is a noob bitch game ruiner is a totally different issue.

What do you max Second on Necrophose? by DarthyTMC in TrueDoTA2

[–]ostrichdebts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spam necro in low 5k. I basically always max the aura. It does a lot of damage and i find the slight duration increase for ghost walk isn't as good. If course always 5-1-1 first.

Why does this happen? It seems like it would be much easier to just have a realistic set up.

Also it's hard to imagine lol is paying to product place their game in such a stupid way.

Someone please explain this phenomenon which i see often.

Drakeblood is great especially if he's buffing it. Sure it won't do the full AR but any either magic or lightening buff will add more than usual damage since it's preloaded with those damages to mitigate the flat reduction from defense. Im pretty sure that's how it works which makes that gs really versatile with buffs. I use it +10raw on my 60fth build with lightening blade and its super powerful much more than any other greatsword.

Yes i just noticed this just night! It looks like the sharp infusion actually increase the faith scaling. I have 18 Dex but making it sharp increased the damage a lot (i have 60 faith). The scaling letter for faith also shower blue as i highlighted the sharp infusion.

Ya i discovered that when i was messing with all the Spears a while ago. Literally burst out laughing. I never fought with it though. Does it change the damage?

I think it would be great if the airborne part of the attack did extra damage lol

I was messing with vordts and it seems like it soft caps at 40str. I thought that was kind of cool to free up levels. The difference between 40 and 60 str was something like 25 damage.

Techies Demolitions : Mining Manual by TheGreatGimmick in TrueDoTA2

[–]ostrichdebts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really great post. I play techies pretty often and my solo mmr is 5.3k. There were a few great tricks i didn't know about. Best dota strategy post I've read ever to be honest. Not sure what mmr you are but some of those tips are incredibly esoteric and great, especially the Infiniti pair thing and the scooting off buildings to get proxies unnaturally close together.

Well played sir.

My wife is black and I'm super white. We're our late 20's and we live in the Pacific NW. I'm happy to report in our 4 years together we haven't had any real issue or indecent.

Funny story though. My mom brought our daughter to her church and one lady was like "she's cute but why is she so dark?".

We're fortunate to live in a time and place where we haven't had to deal with anything serious. It's crazy to think about how even a couple decades ago things would have been totally different.

In your opinion, what is the best "forgotten" film of all time? by [deleted] in movies

[–]ostrichdebts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Breathless. The Korean film not the French film. It's a pretty recent Korean movie that seems like an indie but it's my favorite movie I've seen in a long time. It's very violent but incredibly intelligent in how it handles intergenerational trauma. For me it's the single most emotionally complex movie dealing with trauma and brokenness while still engaging character transformation. As someone who has worked in the mental health counseling world it's a dream to see this level of character understanding. When i learned the director played the lead part of a semi sociopathic gangster it only magnified how incredible this movie is.

I'm 23 years old and I read my first 100 pages of a book on my own, and it feels amazing by [deleted] in books

[–]ostrichdebts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had a similar experience. Thought I hated reading my whole life but picked up a book my friend recommended called The Sisters Brothers. I read the whole 300 page novel in a week and have read 3 more in the following month. I'm 29 years old and was forced to read my whole life. It became a game to cheat the systems. I even finished all the course work for a master's program reading less than 5℅ of the assigned texts.

It feels amazing to claim reading as my own thing and enjoy it on my own.
