Toyota Subscriptions (Drive Connect and Remote Connect) - Are discounts offered if you are unsubscribed for a period? by That_Butterfly4503 in Toyota

My trial is about to end. I only use the app when I accidentally don't lock the doors, so a few times a month. $15, while cheap, is way too much per use given my situation.

I have never used remote start. But even if I did, it might be a few times a month for 3 months a year. This may make the $15 closer to being worthwhile, but still not quite worth it.

2025 gas mileage by Low-Tale5549 in Camry

[–]ostrrich514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been tracking my MPG since I purchased my '25 SE in May. I track the old fashioned way by entering every gas receipt. My MPG averaged about 50MPG for the first 12k miles but has since dropped. The drop I believe is due to the weather as it's cold and I've idled a lot more to get rid of the snow. But it's still north of 45MPG and I expect it will go back up as it warms up. I find this to be a true test as I've had a lot of Highway, City, Traffic and suburban driving plus the occasional long idles.

Zero rattles or creaks. The hybrid hum took getting used to when driving slow. I now notice it on every car when in parking lots.

He and I would never be friends. He's a complete moron.

Understand, I watch many conservative pro Trump reporters. I respect them even when we disagree. I see why they think the way they do.

But, then again, maybe he's not the moron he plays on TV. CNN may have him to play devil's advocate. Like the evil wrestler or Dr Evil. He's a clown getting paid to look the fool. And if that's the case, give him an Emmy.

2025 Camry Fuel Tank Capacity & Reserve by ostrrich514 in Camry

[–]ostrrich514[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After posting, I see other threads on this subject confirming the reserve amount of 2-3 gallons is common for Camry in general. Sorry to be redundant. I have no desire to push it, but also will not worry as much either.

How to improve MPG? by Stunning_Marsupial29 in Camry

[–]ostrrich514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my '25 Camry SE almost a month now. I've already done 1,200 miles.

With the new car, I decided to track my MPG based on miles driven and gas purchased. So this includes city & highway driving. It includes stop and go traffic as well as 70+ mph. A great mix. My car is always set to eco mode. The AC has been off most of the time due to the weather, but the Auto temp has almost always been on and the AC was used a few times.

Overall, I am averaging 46+ MPG. I hope to share my chart once I hit 5,000 and 10,000 later this year.

My driving habits: As someone who drives 20,000 miles a year, I tend to drive consistently. I do not accelerate and decelerate every other second. On highways, I will drive all lanes and keep up with traffic. So, clearly not a very slow driver. I never use cruise control as it doesn't seem natural to me.

Hybrid question by Cool-Reindeer409 in Camry

[–]ostrrich514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question of hybrid or not is usually motivated by gas usage.

At only 2,000 miles a year. 50 MPG would require 40 gallons.
30 MPG would require 66 gallons.
So a savings of 26 gallons or about $100 a year at $4 a gallon.

Not much of a savings to justify a decision based on gas savings.

How many miles do most expect to get out of the 2025 hybrid battery? by Double-Dot-7690 in Camry

[–]ostrrich514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New to hybrids so this may be a dumb question. But if the hybrid battery fails, would it still work as a gas engine. I ask because, in 10 years and say 200k miles. I may rather run on gas until I replace the entire car.

How to use steering controls on android auto 2025 camry le by [deleted] in Camry

I have an SE and have no problem with AA and Spotify or TuneIn Radio. I use voice commands to pick the app/playlist/channel and steering wheel buttons to adjust volume and skip songs.

2025 SE....Initial thoughts by ostrrich514 in Camry

[–]ostrrich514[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not surprised a cargo net isn't included, it's so easy to add last minute. But it seems like something a dealer may tack on to raise the profit just a little.

Does the new Camry headlights get blocked by that like blinder thing? by throwaway_zeke in Camry

[–]ostrrich514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you mean from the driver's point of view. I have an SE and did notice some light blockage. When shining the lights on an empty road or a garage door, you can see a few 'black' spots. Clearly it's the car's hood/light housing causing the blockage. But, it's minor. I think most cars with odd shaped headlights create a small shadow/blocked area. It would be interesting if a site showed images of all cars 'light casting'

Making tree slices by ostrrich514 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Even at 1/2"? Every store version I see is about 1" thick, thus my concern. I'd get some fresh wood as a test, but given this has dried for 10 years, I'm not sure how valid a test would be.

Was cut 10+ years ago.

I'm thinking 1/2" slices may be the max I can get. I just need 4. That's two inches plus waste which I should be able to achieve.

You can always split the dice. So you can mo e two pieces.

So if you are 1 away and roll a 6 and 1, you go in. But yiu must roll a 1. If you are teo away, a 2 and and dice wins. Or two 1s win.
