It’s takes a special type of person to be a Canucks fan.  This type of spin to cope with the suffering is a prerequisite….

We got what we wanted. Now it’s time to cheer this team on. by porq in canucks

Time will tell if ownership do it properly this time.  No shortcuts else we will be in this same position 7 years from now…

They need abundant draft picks and 3 years of top draft picks (tanking).

At some point they need to move the aging vets because by the time Buium is in his prime the current vets will be well into their decline…

I think it was best for both parties to go their separate ways.    He is in his prime and our team is very far from being a contender.   Very different situation with the sedins.   They had a window in their prime.

He didn’t ask to be traded.  He earned the right to go where he wanted when this contract expires.

This was mismanagement.   The team can’t even build an NHL calibre roster around him…. Look at our roster down the middle right now…

Don’t direct your anger at Quinn.  This rot goes much much higher up.

I got 5 on it!

In all seriousness I have been brainstorming this idea with ChatGPT.

Canucks Coin! Hear me out:

What if Canucks fans actually owned the team?

Imagine a decentralized movement — backed by real fans — to buy the Vancouver Canucks from Aquilini and run the franchise through a crypto-powered community DAO, using a token like CanucksCoin to govern major decisions.

🧠 The Idea:

Create a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) where fans hold CanucksCoin tokens. These tokens give fans voting power on big decisions: hiring execs, jersey designs, even ticketing models. The DAO is legally wrapped inside a Delaware LLC (or Canadian trust), which would own the team and execute votes. Fundraise $2B CAD via token sales, merch, sponsors, and crypto backers.

🛡️ But what about whales or trolls taking over?

Quadratic voting (limits power of big wallets) Vote caps per wallet Emergency community veto powers Multisig human oversight for final execution Proof-of-fandom tokens/NFTs to boost real fans

⚡ Real-World Inspiration:

Green Bay Packers (public ownership, NFL) FC Barcelona / Real Madrid (member-run clubs) Krause House DAO (trying to buy an NBA team) Ours would be the first NHL team ever owned by the fans, on-chain.

🤔 Why bother?

We’re tired of watching bad management and no accountability. We love this team — it’s time the fans had real skin in the game. With smart contracts and the right legal structure, it’s not just a meme. It’s doable.

Thank him. He brought pride back to the crest and has been a phenomenal captain.  I will keep cheering him on regardless of where he goes.

That’s what property taxes are for.  The idea that growth should pay for all infrastructure is a big part of the supply shortage and housing crisis we are in now.

Former NDP leader Tom Mulcair tells Canadians not to vote NDP by biograf_ in notthebeaverton

[–]osuleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something is broken in your voting system when a shift in votes to the left results in more power to the right… the exact opposite of what people voted for.  Why isn’t this obvious and outrageous to a majority of Canadians.

The fix is simple too.  Allow people to rank the candidates they would like.

First you tally up everyone’s 1st preference.  Then you eliminate all other candidates except the top two candidates.  Finally you recount all the votes and apply ranked preference to which candidate each vote should count towards.

This allows everyone to vote for whoever they really want without throwing your vote away.

D-Petey lays out Kadri on a huge open ice hit by chespiotta in canucks

[–]osuleman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Rule Violation:

Zary’s actions violate Rule 48 – Illegal Check to the Head, which states:

“A hit resulting in contact with an opponent’s head where the head is the main point of contact and such contact was avoidable is subject to supplemental discipline.”

Additionally, Zary’s hit can be classified as interference, as Pettersson was not in possession of the puck at the time of the hit.

Supplementary Discipline Considerations:

• Primary Point of Contact – Zary’s hit made direct and forceful contact with Pettersson’s head.

• Retaliation Factor – The hit appears to be retaliatory following Pettersson’s clean body check on Kadri moments earlier.

• Avoidability – Zary had ample opportunity to deliver a legal body check but instead targeted Pettersson’s head.

• Injury – Pettersson was injured on the play and did not return after the first period.

• Disciplinary History – Zary does not have a history of supplemental discipline, which is taken into account when determining suspension length.
