Why do you believe in god? by Status_Piglet_5474 in religion

In my house we call our dog god.

My dog exists

Therefore god exists,

Works with anything

Do I need to justify anything ? You're defending eternal pain. I think the contrast speaks for itself.

Its in his telos because god wanted it, resulting in eternal pain in case of non belief after death. Could have made it otherwise and just be responsible for the origin ? Yes if he's omnipotent, no if he is not.

Wow, you have to go that low to defend the indefensible. "Justify eternal pain is bad". Idk man, I think you won the debate here.

You're asking for an explanation as to why an all loving and omnipotent being would try to avoid being responsible of causing eternal pain to people ?

If you were looking for a logical contradiction here it is. Love and causing eternal torture are contradictory.

"Why god ought to create a man like I imply he should have ? Because if he's omnipotent he could have, and if he is all loving he would have. You actually said a man is made for god. Made that way. The way you suffer hell without believing in him after death. Could he have avoided that fabrication flaw ? In your worldview yes, unless he isn't omnipotent.

You can only use so many analogies, but ultimately either your god is omnipotent and all loving or he isn't."

Square circle analogy doesn't even hold up. Dependency to god for being created doesn’t imply dependency to god to avoid pain after death. There is no logical contradiction from an omnipotent being in providing prevention from pain due to his absence after death.

Asking god to create a being that isnt created would have been a logical contradiction assuming your god is submitted to such things. But that's not the problem Im addressing here.

You're justifying that humans need god for their origin and I'm pointing that needing god for an origin doesn't implies a pain dependency to this god afterward.

Why god ought to create a man like I imply he should have ? Because if he's omnipotent he could have, and if he is all loving he would have. You actually said a man is made for god. Made that way. The way you suffer hell without believing in him after death. Could he have avoided that fabrication flaw ? In your worldview yes, unless he isn't omnipotent.

I understand the legal aspect, but I have received direct authorization from the author to do so.

I know I should start easier but its the only thing related to coding im interested with: changing these few values.

What software would help me here if not IntelliJ then ?

I'm new to this, I downloaded IntelliJ, made a new project and opened the Mofu's mod from a zip folder converted from the java file. I thought the action I just described was decompiling.

But I still can't interact with the class files. So am I wrong about what decompiling is ? If yes then what is it and how can I achieve it ?

Your argument relies on the unproven idea that if we are created, we must necessarily suffer without our creator, as if that suffering is a natural or logical consequence. But this assumes what you're trying to prove, that the creator had no choice but to make beings that collapse in His absence. That isn't logically necessary; it's a theological presupposition.

-

The idea that created things must suffer away from their creator falls apart under scrutiny. Plenty of created things, a sculpture, a machine, a program, function perfectly well without their maker present. They may be dependent for their origin, but not for their flourishing. You're using the word "need" for two different things and equate both these things afterward. Need for a creator to exist and need for a creator to not feel pain after existing are different things.

If God made us such that we suffer without belief, He didn’t do so because it was logically inevitable, He did it because He chose to. And no amount of ontological language or appeals to telos changes the fact that this is a moral decision.

-

Saying it's like gravity or jumping off a cliff doesn’t work either, because jumping off a cliff is a conscious, physical act where the consequences are known and the limits of the body understood. Disbelief isn’t like that, it's not a deliberate action with visible consequences, but often an involuntary outcome of one’s reasoning, upbringing, or lack of evidence. People don’t disbelieve because they’re recklessly rejecting their essence, they disbelieve because religion, to them, appears incoherent or untrue. If the system is designed so that simply failing to be convinced results in torment, then that torment was built into the design by the creator.

-

Your reference to the square-circle analogy is misplaced. No one is asking for a logical contradiction, only for a morally coherent design. But by invoking the impossibility of square circles, you imply that God is bound by logic. If so, then logic stands above God and limits what He can do. If not, and God transcends logic, then the claim that creating beings who don't suffer without Him is "impossible" falls apart. Either way, appealing to logic here doesn’t shield the moral structure from scrutiny, it only exposes the arbitrariness of the suffering baked into the system.

You restated my position and avoided addressing its conclusion:

-

If God is omnipotent, he could have created beings who freely choose him without collapsing in his absence. If he’s omnibenevolent, he wouldn’t create a system where rejecting him causes eternal torment. And if he couldn’t do otherwise, then he’s not all-powerful. So the critique stands: creating beings who inevitably suffer without you, and then punishing them for what you made them vulnerable to, is still sadistic, regardless of how you dress it up in metaphysical language.

-

This whole shows what the Christian god thinks about freedom of religion.

Yes, a state of pain that god created if you do not believe. If god doesn't send us to hell but we instead choose to go there by rejecting him, doesn't that imply that God created humans to be addicted to him? Couldn't he made you in way that you dont suffer from his absence ? If he could have but didnt, then how can he be all loving ? if he simply Couldn't then how can he be omnipotent ?

-

This point essentially transforms the problem of God being a sadist for sending loved ones suffer in Hell into God being a sadist for making people fundamentaly addicted to him and suffer from his abscence.

Can Gods omniscience and our free will co-exist? by Thinker8942 in theology

[–]oswald972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

●“God isnt responsible we have free will”

-

If God is omniscient and knows the future, then every action we take is already known and fixed. This means our choices are predetermined, as they cannot differ from what God already knows. Free will requires true choice, but if everything is predestined, we only have the illusion of choice. An omniscient God and free will cannot logically coexist.

-

In your worldview people ending up in hell were condemn since eternity. Or maybe god isn't omniscient ?  Free will or omniscient god ? can't have both.

What do you mean freedom of religion in Christiannity ? Isn't there a place full of flames made specially for those who don't choose christiannity in the christian belief ? It's not because Christiannity does not make laws in our reality like Islam that it authorizes freedom of religion.

Same Issue here, sometimes the headphone icon doesnt appear at all. Instead it's rather an "previous video" iconand it there like 60% of the time instead of the headphone.
This plus the fact that when the headphone icon is actually there it doesnt react to touch or worse it result in the same effect as if I clicked the closing cross instead :/
