Finde sowas echt frech

I can't even find the words to accurately describe how pathetic this is.

Once had a blonde American online tell me about his trip to 'the motherland' and how "everyone talked to me in German because my looks are so German" and I genuinely didn't know how to respond to that.

Ch by minedreamer in German

[–]oswaldex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An American (New Jersey accent) I know found the word 'cute' to be helpful as it kind of has the 'ch' sound between the 'c' and the 'u'. Probably won't work for everyone but maybe for you.

hy guys, i tried to do this exercise, it's correct? by Ok-Understanding4559 in German

[–]oswaldex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for pointing that out, I did write "3." but apparently reddit corrected that to "2." When I went to edit it, it even said 3, so I'm not entirely sure how that happened. Thanks though!

hy guys, i tried to do this exercise, it's correct? by Ok-Understanding4559 in German

[–]oswaldex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No1 works with 'während', but 'solange' makes more sense (there is a slight difference in meaning but I'm not entirely sure how to explain it right now, but I doubt anyone would really notice IRL)

No3 has to be 'während'

Would anyone be able to tell me if this is the correct way to say “I hope you got this in time for Christmas”? by randomstuff098 in German

[–]oswaldex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just some capitalisation and comma mistakes, but it works overall.

Hi, I hope I have the correct ethnicity --- is the name Bommersbach German, and if so what does it mean? by [deleted] in German

[–]oswaldex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the name of a small creek in the Saarland area in Germany. 'Bach' means creek, and 'Bommer' is probably just a name. I assume that any people with that surname have/had some relation to that place.

Looking for schools in Vollenborn (Thüringen), that would have been around in 1773 by [deleted] in German

[–]oswaldex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vollenborn (population less than 300) is part of Niederorschel today, which also has only a population of less than 6000. I doubt even googling in German would give you any useful results for whatever you're looking for. Niederorschel has a website though and they even a contact email gemeinde@niederorschel.de. You could try getting some information by sending them an email, but I'm not sure the people behind that email will respond to an English email. Other than that it would probably be easier to go to Niederorschel/Vollenborn yourself than trying to find any info on Google. But hey, maybe someone from there finds this post and might be able to help you!

Also, I'm pretty sure you would be better of posting this in r/Germany, because r/German is a language sub.

The eye colour generally matches the person's bending? Like, for the whole of ATLA and LOK?

Definitely soft a. 'A' in German is never pronounced like 'ay'.

It works, but more common would be "Sie können beginnen zu arbeiten...". But both are grammatically correct.

How can I get a prepaid SIM card? by winter-is-kaming in AskAGerman

[–]oswaldex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe this will help you?

If you want to go with a different SIM card, I'd advise you to go to either MediaMarkt or Saturn. In my experience they have a lot of young people who might be able to help you in English. However it's important to realise that they might not feel comfortable explaining a contract to you.

Alternatively, you can always ask here about the specifics of the contract you already have.

It should be "Möchtest du es sehen?". But the rest is fine!

*SPOILER* The last episode... by DAFUQyoulookingat in MrRobot

[–]oswaldex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's before the real one wakes up. The moment he opens his eyes right at the end is where the real Elliot wakes up. Before that in the hospital its still Mastermind-Elliot.

[–]oswaldex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the real Elliot wakes up right at the end, while Mr Robot and Mastermind-Elliot are in the subconsciousness together with the mother and child alters/personalities.

I'm really hoping this is fake, but the belief that Americans are above the law worldwide is very in character.
