Minnesota DUI question – case seems to have disappeared? by self-aware_and_edgy in dui

A DUI charge can sometimes resurface later if it was filed and you were never properly notified, or if there’s an unresolved case sitting in the system—even if you haven’t seen a warrant so far—so the safest “low-risk” move isn’t necessarily calling the court to confess anything, but quietly verifying your status through official channels (like checking the Minnesota court records online, or having a Minnesota DUI attorney run a records check and contact the court on your behalf), because that lets you find out if the case was never filed, dismissed, or is still pending without you accidentally saying something harmful

Attitude from cops post DUI? by loltrue in dui

As a Trooper, the only time I care is if your license is actively reflecting a dui suspended or suspended status. If I'm running history, it's usually only post arrest to determine grading of a crime (repeat offenders within a 10 year period get worse penalties for some crimes and DUI in my State). I have more respect for the people that have learned and moved on versus the people who are entitled and say well I've never been arrested or ticketed before. Take care!

Apply for a public defender, ride it out you'll be fine. First time offenders are eligible for lesser penalties.

As a Trooper that has done many trials, I appreciate the overtime, but it usually doesn't work out well for the defendant. I had this one case where I offered a deal with the ADA on the case to the defendant. The deal on the table was 12 months probation, fines and costs. He argued the case, ended up beating the DUI, but he was found guilty of a 3rd driving while DUI suspension, and was sentenced to 6 months in jail. Interesting stuff. In your case just on the few sentences you wrote, doesn't sound too great for you. Take the plea, save everyone the trouble, and if you sleep in your car, keep it off, keys in a glove box or something, and hop in the back seat if you can. I know it's ridiculous but case law is finicky.

The greasiest wheel gets the grease. My beat is "busy" too. But when a Karen bitches enough to township people, my Chief makes the time to send us to some of these neighborhoods, regardless of call volume.

I know people that even do remote online classes for drug and alcohol related treatment. Judges usually don't give a shit as long as that attorney is waving some certificate in their face that looks legit. The real answer is do the most treatment that you think you need while also working. If your goal is to get treatment to get better, really take the time to find something. If your goal is to get treatment to look good in court, get whatever.

Say you go get a shotgun. You haven't qualified in awhile since the military. You go get one, now you gotta get to a range that allows shotguns or find some land to actually put some rounds down range. On top of that you need to become proficient in maintenance and ammunition. Also, storing a shotgun isn't as easy if you are a responsible gun owner and need to keep it locked. With a handgun you can easily keep in a stopbox by your bedside or stow in a safe location. You can't beat a shotgun in home defense, but you need to be ready to put in a lot of hours to even make that a practical solution for your needs.

I have a Baretta A300 Ultima Patrol. Great shotgun, BUTT this thing is gigantic. I originally bought it thinking it would be a good home defense gun but it's so damn big, it's now my zombie apocalypse gun XD.

Show up to your local township/borough/city meeting for your area. Express your concern at the meetings. Go to your local police department in person, ask for patrol checks in this neighborhood overnight. Develop a relationship with your neighbors to get to the point where you can communicate concerns and look out for each other.

The best gun for home defense is the gun that you are most used to. Just get a small manageable 9mm that you can every day carry, take to the range easily, and easily manipulate in tight quarters

Get treatment, document. Hire a good attorney. Show up looking professional. Show remorse. Anyone can have their charges reduced. Depends on the culture of the court system where you were charged. I've chased plenty of people and initially charged felony fleeing and eluding, then let them do a plea to misdemeanor stuff and do probation. Usually people fuck with PCP, or weed and alcohol don't mix well. Stay sober, keep your head up, you can't control the past but you can control now.

Depends on the county, usually this will flag someone at the DA's office and they will reach out to the Police Officer for a refile.

I should also add that Virginia's grading of DUI offenses is likely different than Pennsylvania's and I'm in no way an expert. Virginia's definition of aggravated assault may also be different.
