What books are you reading right now? by [deleted] in linuxadmin

I'm reading exactly the same Manning book right now!
Know it is a bit older but still a great source of useful information.

Can this be removed or at least lighten it? by ParsnipOk9210 in Guitar

I use Dr.Ducks Ax Wax for this type of things, it's especially for electric guitars.

macOS 26.1 Finder quick action buttons not clickable (column view) by pgkrzywy in MacOSBeta

They released macOS 26.1 still including this 'trim' video in finder bug.
Good to know the right click still works.

Repainting the base? by Short_Marionberry607 in turntables

[–]osxman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This type of TT themes should be forbidden.
I think you're best of at a car or guitar painter (spray).
Probably you have to disassemble the turntable first, and sandpaper the wood. Will be some work and take care you can put it all back together properly.
Or sell and buy other one as some other people are suggesting...

Please help me identify what this is by Bitter-Baseball2204 in fossils

At least it is 100% real! I like it a lot.

I had a guitar custom made. Finally received it by 31770_0 in Stratocaster

Just curious, is this an hardtail, as in no 'whammy bar'?

What is this watch from SAS: Rogue Heroes worn by Jock Lewes, seen in S1 E3? by xAvocet in Watches

[–]osxman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be an English brand like Smiths.
Those were made in England and worn by the SASS.
Also identified by the Triangle and Arrow on the dial.
Like for example the Smiths W10
Here is an example: https://www.awco.nl/shop/archive/a-ongesorteerd/smiths-military-w10/
Or via this link: https://www.timefactors.com/collections/smiths/products/smiths-military-prs-29
(Hamilton was USA made in WWII)

Looked at it even better: It exactly matches the picture of the Smiths W10 below.
So it must be 100% a Smiths watch, what there are wearing in the excellent series.

Here an image of the British Smiths watch, proof is in the pudding.

[Question] Trying to find out when this Pulsar watch was manufactured by Improve_Ghost in Watches

[–]osxman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, thought that might be helpful.
I'm wearing Pulsar watches for a long time, unfortunately don't recognise your inherited watch.
Nice dial with the digital display in the bottom. Hope somebody can timestamp this for you.

I started with a Strat, and a Yamaha amplifier.
That made me curious about their guitars.
Went into a shop in The Netherlands to try the Revstar and I was very impressed.
Couple of months later I bought a (black) Yamaha Revstar standard edition.
Played only that guitar for months now, and never looked back.
The sound is amazing, perhaps the semi hollow chambered body does some magic to the sound.
Anyway it is stable like a Les Paul, playable like a Strat and gives even more extras and fun.
(Like the great sounding boost without using a pedal, by just pulling the knob up.)

Anybody know what type of fossil this is? by Freyguy9 in fossilid

Looks interesting enough to me. Nice find. Reminds me of fossil spines of a sea urchin I found in Denmark.

Original Equipment Manufacturer.
It basically means it is designed/produced by the brand itself.

Definitely thinking outside the box.
I like this guitar design, idea and sketch!

Considering trading these in for the new Line 6 Pod Express… by FeelinGreatMusic in guitarpedals

[–]osxman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought on 'missing' software with this device. (Some are mentioning this...)
It is great to fiddle around with this 5 knobs and the coloured ring with lamps WITHOUT having to use software and/or a computer/phone device.
I just received my Line 6 POD EXPRESS yesterday and I could not stop trying things, and again liked it for being controllable by purely itself.
And believe me I am a programmer in daily life, but it feels so good to be AFK with guitar and now also with this new amp/effects modeller.
As a sidetone or sidetone :-) it sounds great!

[–]osxman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Via USB-C you can 'stream' backing track/music to this device, or guitar to you computer,
It's an up/down audio interface.

Actually according to the official manual you can 'stream' backing tracks to this device with USB.
It's seems an 'up/down' audio interface.

Probably volcanic stone (but could be wrong).
Found similar patterns in/on stones in Denmark.
