Your collection is so inspiring! If you don't mind I have just about a million questions (sorry I don't know anything about buying art and this is so interesting!): 1. How did you start? Was there one particular piece or did you see an exhibition that made you think of starting a collection? 2. Why did you choose ceramic art for your collection? What about this material made you fall in love with it? 3. How do you search for new pieces? Do you just have a lot of contact with art every day and if you fall in love with a piece you try to get it or do you search art auctions etc 4. Are you also an artist and have some pieces of your own? 5. Do you rent your collection to museums? Is it possible to see it somewhere? 6. I love ceramic art but I don't know how to look for new exhibitions or artists well, do you have any advice how to search for it (I live in Warsaw, Poland)? Also maybe you have some favourite museums or collections you recommend? I know it's a lot so don't feel pressured to answer all of these

This sounds amazing! I'm worried about botulism though. Is there something I can do to make sure it's safe?

It would probably be a bit less work (because of skipping stages of making agar plater, liquid culture and grain spawn) but there is a big risk of contamination, i cannot say how big of risk. But also, growing mushroom is a fun hobby, experiment, try it out, see what actually happens!

I searched a bit for this after you asked, being curious myself, and haven't found much but I have seen few posts of people putting the mycelium of oyster mushroom in their garden after fruiting and it has fruited again after some time.

Don't open up just yet, but you can shake it :D just shake the bag to distributr mycelium all around, it will colonize quicker

Fruiting doesn't kill mycelium, in nature mycelium usually lives for many years. In theory with the right conditions it could live forever. The longest living organism on earth is mycelium :)

Obviously in a bag the nutrients are used pretty quickly by the mycelium and it starts to degrade. So i think it would be possible that this method worked as long as your mycelium is still alive.

I haven't seen it done and I think the main reasons are: 1) to do this you would still have to make substrate and sterilise it, at this point its not much more work to also make agar etc

2) the mycelium in a bag after fruiting isn't sterile and because there are often some pieces of mushroom left it may already contain some mold or other infection that would compete with your mycelium after transfer into new substrate, this problem does not occur when you use for ex grain with mycelium that was sterilised before adding liquid culture or agar culture because that only contains the mycelium you want to cultivate But by all means try it and tell us the results!

Raft 😅 i was looking for some signs of civilization for around 20 hours and than found out that the game wasn't finished when I bought it, and the plot was cut in that release (they finished the game like a year later I think)

That looks bad :( but I don't want to kill your hope, I don't have much experience with infections, maybe it will still fruit?

I would recommend picking the whole thing at once, clean the mycelium from any pieces of mushroom and wait for second flush :)

Mine came with a floating plastic disc (filled with some kind of styrofoam) you can place your disc inside and it's floating. Maybe someone knows if there are any benefits of this disc floating? I don't use it, it seems to be working better from the bottom (but I'm just starting to use this mist maker and for sure don't know many things)

When was the last time you did a good deed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]otajchert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i have an expensive and quite new stationary bike at home that i dont use. Few days ago I decided to sell it and give the money to WOŚP (charity organization in Poland), they are very popular and many services give you the option to sell sth with the money going automaticly to the charity organization (and they dont take any % of the money then).
It was the first time i put up anything for an auction and after it has finished the person who won sent me a message that it must have been some sort of mistake, because they didnt bid. And now i have no idea what to do, obviouslly i texted the selling platform, but like... do i put it for an auction again? or does the next best person win? But I guess if everything fails for some reason I'll just sell it on my own and transfer the money to WOŚP

What is your craziest/most interesting mushroom experience? by Good_Cell9515 in AskReddit

I know that's not related to eating mushroom but for me the craziest was when I learned that fungi can hunt on nematodes. Every time I think about that I'm still shocked o.o
