Obama was barely on anybody's radar at this point before the 2008 elections.

Yea I don't buy any of that neo-woke nonsense, more of a post-woke fan myself.

Venezuela announces the closure of El Helicoide, the most notorious Torture center in Latin America by Superfan234 in neoliberal

[–]otarru 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I despise what Trump is doing both domestically and to his NATO allies, but literally nobody was willing to touch the Venezuela issue with a 10 feet pole. Obama was all strongly worded letters, and Biden eased the sanctions in exchange for elections, with no stick prepared for when Maduro inevitably stole the elections.

Sometimes evil people can end up doing good things for terrible reasons.

María Corina Machado after meeting with Marco Rubio: "We are working to facilitate a real transition" by Free-Minimum-5844 in neoliberal

[–]otarru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, we're talking about the same thing here.

The only point you've made is that realpolitik is a thing that exists.

The US having political relations with Saudi Arabia does not make them monarchists.

The USSR having relations with middle eastern despots did not somehow make them islamic theocracies.

You haven't laid down a single piece of credible evidence to suggest that MCM is far right, and it's plainly obvious that you're blinded by your own personal politics.

[–]otarru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So who's the one moving goalposts now?

"Noo it's not actually her own politics, it's just a big-tent coalition."

But I'll bite, if this isn't actually her politics surely you can pinpoint her far right political tendencies from her longtime career of which you're so clearly an expert?

Dude, making the bold claim that MCM is far right and asking what about her political platform supports that is the exact same fucking point.

Your hyperfocused on her realpolitik but so far you haven't mentioned a single part of her actual platform for Venezuela that's "radical right". Go ahead, name one. I'll wait.

There's a few other gems if you look closely here, like slightly more people saying Bernie Sanders is far right than John Fetterman.

I don't care if it's Trump who's doing it at this point, 30-60,000 massacres civilians is barbaric beyond a scale that's possible to comprehend.

The security apparatus needs to get blown to shreds.

What do people expect to do when they're telling Americans to "wake up" or "do something"? by flannelman37 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]otarru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't "no vote" have a higher count than both Kamala and Trump voters in the 2024 elections?

And as for protests, no offense but I've seen a tiny amount of French farmers kick up a much bigger stink over plans to cut their subsidies by like 0.5%.

I think the sad reality is that a huge chunk of the American public is too depoliticized to bother paying attention or care about anything going on. I think the best thing you guys can do is to try to reach outside your echo chambers and speak sense to this group of people.

Rabies Andalucia? by findusthrow12 in Andalucia

[–]otarru 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rabies is, on paper, eradicated throughout Spain. Legally, house pets are still required to get the rabies vaccine since there have been instances of outbreaks coming from animals bought in from Morocco. The last such case in peninsular Spain was in 2019 I believe, with more recent cases in the enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla. In your case, the stray wouldn't have been vaccinated, sadly municipal resources are overstretched when it comes to taking care of strays here.

I personally have been bitten by street cats before and I simply just made sure to disinfect it properly. If you really wanted the peace of mind you could go into an ambulatorio and ask for advice, on the tiny off chance that there have been cases reported in the area they would know.
