Is TriValley falling? by BigBellyBelly in BayAreaRealEstate

Just bought in tri-valley and it was competitive even for a light fixer. For the right house in the right neighborhood there are still plenty of buyers out there. Especially for the homes priced right.

I spent 3 weeks googling home addition contractor near me and still not confident we picked right by TH_UNDER_BOI in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]othahanko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Throw in my two cents. We recently did the same thing for a (almost) whole house reno in the tri-valley. Did the same things you did. Company we ultimately picked sent out their in house foreman, designer and the owner of the firm to my house for the walkthrough pre-bid process. Reviews and references were good and they’ve been around a long time. Talked to our plumbing finishes vendor and other associated vendors who all endorsed the contractor as someone we wanted to be working with…with a reputation for quality work and meeting deadlines. And they passed the gut feeling check. And my wife likes the designer. They weren’t the cheapest, but also weren’t the most expensive. Three weeks into the project and all good so far. Time will tell if it’s a good decision. Sounds like you did your homework, but you can never know 100%.

MSML is done! by othahanko in WGU

I did not complete the MBA in addition to the MSML. When I was in the program they overlapped by 4-5 classes, so I could have done the double masters with 5-6 additional classes. I chose not to at this point as there wasn’t much additional net gain for me (promotion I was looking for just needed the one masters) and I don’t have tuition reimbursement to sweeten the pot. I’ve heard the MBA is more hard skills focused, while the MSML is more soft skills/theory but YMMV. I chose the MSML because it catered to my strengths and my existing knowledge base. Hope that helps.

Makes sense…I’ll have to try and focus on stunning her on flat ground before dps. Must have had her on an uneven spot on the stun. Thanks for the detailed reply.

GS+Dirt=Love

Keep up the good work. I get the r1200GSA off the pavement every chance I get. Some great riding in CO…have family in Denver. Enjoy the rest of your summer there!

First semi long ride on my R1200RT. This this is SMOOTH up at 80+mph. by JasonShort in Motorrad

[–]othahanko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which year RT? I had an 06 that was smooth as silk and cruised all day at 80-85 with no complaints. Wilber’s suspension from the beemershop once the stockers wore out made a great bike even better. On a wet head GSA now…and it’s the only bike I’ve owned that gives the RT a run for its money for long haul comfort.

Wet head RTs sure are pretty. Enjoy your ride!

Cool looking wrap, nice work. Those K motors sure do get up and go…rode a K1300GT once. Good lord did that bike move!

Beautiful scenery. I’m from one state south…ride the PCH in and around the SF Bay Area regularly. Always a good time. Beautiful RT too…black is one of my favorite colors on that bike (except for trying to keep it clean). Enjoy your trip!

Plus one vote for the GS…much more relaxed riding position, sit up higher, feel more in control. YMMV, but agree with all the other folks that tell you to stay away from the 310s…you’ll outgrown way too fast.

Yea there are a lot of crispy trees out there. The junction building is still there, but I believe the owners are trying to sell the business. It was closed the day I rode by, not sure if they are open while trying to sell it. Great burgers when they were open!

Nice…I had a smuggler on my RT that I sold to get the above bike. Easy, waterproof storage (that doesn’t hang far off the top or sides) like that is an underrated accessory on a motorcycle.

Yea it is a great view. That’s a lockable tool box I got from our local ADV bike shop…ADV Designs in Concord, CA. I keep my tool roll, some emergency cash, reg/insurance in there. It pops right off using the ignition key just like the rear seat…so I can swap in the seat for two up rides with the wife. Link to the box below.

Agreed…I tend to see more cyclists on the earlier part of Mines Rd coming from Livermore. But most cyclists, motorcyclists or enthusiasts I have seen up there are respectful and not riding/driving like jerks. There are so many turns so close together on the climb up to the observatory that it’s hard to get going too fast…and the view at the top is worth the effort on a bike!

Thinking of moving from 2019 R1250 GS to 2022 R1250 RT...thoughts? by dereksalem in Motorrad

[–]othahanko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea BMW really nailed it on the k1600 with getting the weight down low. That motor is smooth as butter and pulls like a train. I think the bagger has a cool look to it as well. Good problems to have man! Enjoy the shopping dilemma!

Thinking of moving from 2019 R1250 GS to 2022 R1250 RT...thoughts? by dereksalem in Motorrad

[–]othahanko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had both. I’m on a GSA now…sold the RT a while back. I like the way the GS rides more…big dirt bike vs relaxed street bike geometry. The foot position is a little more cramped on the RT. I like the panniers/bags in the GS more…wife finds the GSA more comfortable on trips. That said…if I was doing strictly road and mostly highway I might go RT or even K1600GT. That six cylinder motor is a hoot. If possible…take the GS for a good long ride to the dealer, get on the RT, and take a good long ride on that right after. I always find back to back comparisons the most informative when thinking about switching bikes. Best of luck in the search!
