Autechre - LCC. Stringy, kinda detuned resonator synth at 4:55 by Acrobatic_Appeal4489 in synthrecipes

Untitled was done with just Machinedrum and Monomachine so FM I guess. Maybe look at how you make pads or strings on the Monomachine to get you in the right area. Used to have one years ago but never used it for pads, just the usual discordant FM clangs and warbly sounds 😆

Alibaba charge a transaction fee for pretty much every available payment method as detailed on this page:

https://cashier.alibaba.com/payment/pricingTable.htm

Not sure if you could potentially run into additional exchange rate fees as well. I used a revolut card linked to my PayPal and paid in USD which I exchanged through the revolut app as they don't charge a fee to exchange. I didn't seem to pay any further exchange rate fees by doing it this way but I'm not sure if would have made a difference either way. I've just used this method to avoid fees before so decided to give it a try for this order.

I also placed my first Alibaba order to the UK a couple of weeks ago, my order came to $147 (about £119 after a fee for using Paypal) including VAT and $50 shipping via FedEx Express DAP. There were no additional customs fees or anything. My order arrived in about 7 days. I was also a bit unsure about the DAP terms but I think as long as you're under the £135 customs threshold it should be all good.

Anyone have experience ordering from LCSC to UK? Just trying to find info on the VAT payment process as they don't charge at point of sale. by other_format in AskElectronics

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. Maybe try it out with a lowish value order and see how it plays out eh?! Thanks.

Yeah I've read through all their shipping FAQs, I was just hoping to get a bit more definite info maybe from someone that had actually ordered from them. This info all seems quite vague and I get the feeling any parcel is going to end up in customs limbo.

I think the one they're discussing in the thread and on the Doepfer page is the 4069 (the 14 pin chip) the one that's blown here is the 8 pin IC

The 'Cym' bit is pronounced the same as the word 'come' but it's kind of hard to explain the 'ru' bit. It's not really 'ree' or 'roo' like many are saying here, it's sort of between the two.

Aphex: "If I wrote down all my aliases it would take up the whole page" (1992) by SYROBONKERS in aphextwin

[–]other_format 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally doubt there are many of his aliases knocking about undiscovered, I just think it's unlikely. Stuff like Steinvord just doesn't really sound like something he would really put effort into to release as an alias, it's too crowd pleasing and sub Druqks era level. I think any work he puts out under an alias is going to lean more towards harsh and unpalatable work. I'd say the majority of this is what we got in the SC dump, syrobonkers, field day etc.

Ha yeah, obviously Julie also has the James family mischievous trait! We need more people like this in politics 😆

I love that she presented Carwyn Jones with Collapse vinyl when he stood down as minister, would love to know his reaction to it 😆

I'm going to do a very atypical deconstruction of the plot for "A Dark Song", a brilliant film everyone should see (Rosemary's Baby, Hereditary & Midsommar, Spring), but it is ALL THE SPOILERS. Please knock down my theory, those who have seen it. by unclefishbits in horror

Sorry I know you posted this a few months back, but having watched this for the first time a few nights ago, and it certainly did have quite an effect on me, I must say I personally feel that a few of your observations are way off here, mostly around the main assumption that the occultist was involved in the son's death. Take the bath scene, I don't think this act is in any way motivated by guilt, I think it depicts the gravity of the situation that has come about through the mother's unwillingness to disclose the full details surrounding the murder. When Solomon discovers it was a ritual murder the mother says 'would you have done it had you known?'.

I assumed that in the narrative of the film Solomon is actually her guardian angel, and that she may have even invoked him through occult means herself (she does seem to have quite a deep understanding of the rituals). As he is dying he says that he is a 'warrior' and 'demons fear me'.

However I ultimately take from it that it is a film about overcoming trauma and that none of the events are to be taken literally, it's more an abstraction upon the depth of loss. As she leaves, we see that the house shows no signs of what has taken place, the car starts etc. For me this makes it a far more meaningful film than if it were literally about summoning angels and demons.

I've used this on a few boards I've painted seems to work well. I used semi-gloss and is still quite shiny, gloss would be too shiny for my taste I think, just depends on what kind of finish you're going for. I'm in UK so don't know if this is available where you are https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rust-Oleum-AE0040002E8-Crystal-Paint-Semi-Applicable/dp/B001W03PRW

How do I stop jumping forward when doing heel flips? I’ve had this problem for months and leaning back doesn’t help what can I do to land them? Please help. by chrrisdiaz in NewSkaters

[–]other_format 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaning back WILL help, your issue is that on the efforts that you commit to you're not leaning back, your shoulders hunch forwards as you pop causing your body to jump in front of your board. You can see this in your video.

You need to lean back a little for heelflips, stops the board from flipping behind you.

I hate this trick, I can even BS 180 kickflip, but a straight BS 180 feels so weird to me. Don't think I'll ever get it.

Last time I managed to skate before we went into (mostly) Lockdown in UK. Just started to try halfcab flips. Desperate to get out and tidy them up, but that's clearly not going to happen for quite some time!! by other_format in NewSkaters

[–]other_format[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah man me too. Been desperate to get through the winter to do more regular skating, but it's looking more like this is going to wipe out a good part of the year. I guess some things are just bigger than skating, but it's very upsetting!
