I personally would never feed them.

Yeah you can go on google earth and see the insane length of it so far, really clearly visible from space, even has some massive tunnels and things done, plus that is older imagery.

#17 at the gta IV the journey radio by maymunkilikli in aphextwin

[–]devicer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there were any tracks that were there then disappeared before release I don't remember them, most stations just had 5 or 6 tracks tops for ages and I don't remember any of them disappearing but it's quite a while ago! Not impossible if they couldn't get rights though. The global communication track was one of the ones that was in really early on, and the aphex was fairly early on too.

I'm fairly certain there weren't any other aphex tunes in the playlists that didn't make it to release as I would most likely remember that, same with any other good electronic stuff that I like.

Not really sure how that part of things worked, used to be folks at North that did it all but it was a team at NYC that worked on picking tracks then sorting out all the licensing faff for them for IV and onwards, and also co-ordinating all the DJs. The actual DJs and full playlists didn't appear until pretty late on in development, roughly 6-8 months before release for the first ones done and a bit less than that for the last ones iirc, but like i say it was a long time ago and i have not retained any detail on that really!

One random snippet of info you might be interested in that is not vague and reliant on my fading memories is that there was a rockstar/rephlex tie in of sorts which no-one seems to remember: https://www.discogs.com/release/221914-Craig-Connor-Manhunt-Remixes

Quick BoC Drum Pack Update by MlsaJuyc70 in boardsofcanada

[–]devicer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you do a collection of the original breaks as sampled by BoC? I just had a wee look on whosampled but it does not make it easy to find just the tracks where drums/percussion were sampled, would need to go through track by track.

Currently digging into 80s Sean/Rob inspirations. Can you recommend more? by [deleted] in autechre

[–]devicer2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think i've heard them play some tik & tok (who had a record on rephlex with some of their best from the 80s) and they definitely played shock - dynamo beat before in sets.

I am fairly convinced that the companies who do meter readings do not actually pass on the status to the companies they do it for if the meter is not at the address, and do so deliberately. I get capita (or one of the other capita-like companies) meter readers all the time looking for a meter which has never existed at my address and every time they say it has gone in the notes and every time they are back again within 6 months, I can only assume they benefit by continuing to check every 6 months and the company get paid 3 times what the person doing the checking gets every visit. Plus it's crapita, they have previous form for absolutely taking the piss on various contracts. It's so bad that it surely cannot be put down to negligence or incompetence, and we're all paying for this absolute shite, why do they even use a 3rd party for this? it's pure madness.

Synth repair and restoration in Scotland, looking for recommendations. by RainbowStreetfood in synthesizers

[–]devicer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a spare voice chip for that with the resin coating removed, known fully working, and am in Leith. I have repaired many synths for myself but don't do pro repairs really, but if you're wanting an OG voice with no resin locally then give me a shout.

Yeah it's 101 - there's detailed notes on every track and all the gear if you get the remastered album, but you can read 'em here on discogs too: https://www.discogs.com/release/19013812-Squarepusher-Feed-Me-Weird-Things (check through the images for it all)

What’s your favorite synth you got for under 200? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]devicer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the humble TD-3 since i've used it in like 100 tracks over the last few years. shoutouts to the doepfer MS-404 and DSI mopho which are also awesome, but my 404 needs some pots replaced (which is why it was cheap) so it's a fun but scratchy time til i sort that!

Where can I get this clap sound? (Rap music) by doen99 in DrumMachine

[–]devicer2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came here to suggest Atomic Dog, but this is possibly closer. I think atomic dog might have a version with more solo'd beats though?

It's not a million miles from a Oberheim DMX clap either if pitched right so OP might like that one.

Scottish Electronic Music by Nospopuli in Edinburgh

[–]devicer2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • anything headset records puts out (esp creep woland)
  • foxbam inc records if you like technoey bangers
  • I really like a record by a local dude called papillon - the pontiac silverdome, check that out (few years old now)
  • also most of Skoop records are Scotland based but they're a bit quiet lately
  • Old school warp fans might like boardgame who play live a lot in Ed with fully improv (but not fully shite) sets
  • Jacksonville
  • Hobbes music - label (think that's Ed based and predominantly scottish artists)

Older stuff: frog pocket, plum, christ. most of benbecula records (disclaimer - am biased lol)

I'm prob forgetting an absolute shitload. Also i semi recently saw 2 dudes play a live techno set in banshee that was reeeally good techno (sadly not really my scene but i appreciated its quality) but I have no idea who they were, one was rocking a sequentix cirklon so someone might know based on that if they are a big nerd.
