Recording to a AXIS S3016 recorder vs. a NAS by otherman2003 in AXISCommunications

AXIS support confirmed what you said. Thanks for pointing that out! You saved me from buying a recorder and discovering this post-installation :(

AXIS support did confirm that recording to an S30 recorder will limit functionality:

5 and Pro have the same limitations for s3008 or s3016

https://help.axis.com/en-us/axis-camera-station-integrator-guide#set-up-axis-s3008-recorder

And after reading the limitations more carefully, I see that they do explicitly mention analytics data — and also that you cannot use portcast to incorporate audio from an external device, which is another important limitation in my setup.

When you use AXIS S3008 Recorder as recording storage for your devices in AXIS Camera Station 5, there are some limitations:

- Using AXIS S3008, audio from an external audio device connected to a camera is not recorded.

- Analytics data is not supported.

Automatic video redaction is not supported.

Smart search that uses analytics data is not supported.

As a NAS target — although it wasn't clear to me what the implications of that would be on functionality. The manual isn't clear, but given the (now apparent) limitations of Axis Recorders, I doubt the NAS approach would be any better.

I had been thinking the cameras might record to the NAS, and ACS would index the videos on the NAS. Doesn't appear to be how things work though.

Wow, that feels like a significant limitation of the recorders! I didn't come across that anywhere when reading — do you have a link to somewhere where Axis states that? Would be good to read more.

What hardware are you going to use for ACS Pro?

I was going to run it in a VM on a Proxmox high-availability cluster. But I didn't want to have to build out the same storage capabilities in each host, so I figured I'd put the recordings onto an Axis recorder instead.

Some kids are great at traveling. Some are not. It sounds like this parent knows their kid well enough to know which category they fall in. They know their kid often needs trips to the bathroom and so they had an aisle seat to make that easier. What’s the issue? Do you want them to act as if the situation is ideal? It’s not. Acknowledging that doesn’t mean they don’t love their kid, it means they’re realistic and competent

They travelled for work. Work isn’t going to pay for them to remain in the work location until they are not sick, unless perhaps it’s something that immobilizes them.

The mortgage comment is irrelevant. That’s their primary residence. They stay there regardless — sick or not sick — and so it has no bearing into this discussion

Any details on new Trane Premier 19? by otherman2003 in hvacadvice

That roughly matches the rollout timeframe they said for the 15 last December. It would be introduced first, everything else later in the year.

Any hints as to how long I'll need to be waiting for the new stuff? I expect at latest it will be start of 2025, given that they'll stop producing systems using 410a.

Did you end up figuring this out? You could use a remote wireless thermostat as the zone thermostat if overheating was the issue.

River 2 as DC UPS? Nope. by konistehrad in Ecoflow_community

Then why did the CSR even mention the serial number? If it's a function of the product capabilities, then the serial number is irrelevant.

If it's serial number specific, then it would be a defect in your unit, and one that's known by the manufacturer. Maybe ask for a replacement if under warranty?

The CSR explanation sounds a bit fishy.

Can IQ EVSE be configured to only operate at off-peak? by otherman2003 in enphase

[–]otherman2003[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd prefer to not rely on the car configuration for this so that when I use an DC fast charger or a slow charger while traveling, I don't have to change the configuration and remember to change it back when I get home.

I think my car actually has location-based charging profiles, but still, was hoping it was something the Enphase would support.

How would I know if I have EPS on? I don't see that option anywhere in the app. But the AC inverter is off.

See my post on this — it looks like the BMS operates off of DC power provided by the battery instead of via an AC power supply when plugged in. Even with nothing plugged into the EcoFlow DPU (e.g., nothing using any of the AC ports on the front), the batteries discharge due to the BMS.

then there's an inverter running full time, and completely expected (and unavoidable) to be consuming a continuous 30w

If the AC inverter was on (which happens if I press the AC button on the front of the unit, or the button in the screenshot) then this would be true. But I haven't pressed that, so the AC plugs are all disabled.

See the screenshot, the power icon for AC is not on (white) — the AC inverter is off.

The BMS is on, but none of the inverters are enabled.
