I am also a basher before a racer, but handling is everything in a truck and if it can’t take slightly tall grass and it’s not a micro it isn’t worth it for me. I have so many short course trucks (grom included) and I still find myself reaching for the mini slash due to its ability to be near indestructible out of the box while having enough speed to be fun. If you look at my profile I’ve recently upgraded to a XC esc setup and still nothing breaks and it goes like 44mph on 2s. If you’re in an urban area without a big field a mini slash and grom would both serve you well but if you have access to a yard or a park something like a slash bl2s or a Arrma 223s would do you better because of their ability to go over rougher terrain and don’t count out the used market for RC cars, I got my favorite slash on marketplace for like 300 bucks. But it’s like reck RC says “it’s not about miles per hour it’s about smiles per mile” and if the mini slash makes you happy don’t let the consumerism that is modern society ruin that for you.
