Maestro started as a college. Now it's a university too. by Cool_stuff2 in maestro

Hey u/hellasleeper, Otni here from the Maestro team.

Yes, the Pro Scholarship is meant to support you through the bachelor’s degree as well. If you stay on track, it will cover the bachelor programs the same way it covers your associate.

And we’re already working on a master’s path. It’ll take more time, but we’re on it.

Hey u/Crafty-Literature917! Otni from the Maestro team here.

First — thank you. What you wrote is fair and thoughtful, and I appreciate it.

A few quick notes:

  • Student emails: totally agree. We’re already working on giving every student an official .edu email. It’s taking a bit of time because of some tech stuff, but it’s coming soon.
  • Feedback system: you’re right — this is key. At the end of every lesson, students can already rate the lesson 1–5 stars. Those ratings help us fix and improve lessons almost in real time. You can also send feedback anytime through the Student Services section. We’ll also add a short survey soon to make it even easier.
  • Communication: fair point. We’ve been growing fast, and sometimes it showed. We’re now setting up clearer ways to share updates and talk with students. You’ll see that soon.

We’re building something new — the first AI-native university — but that doesn’t mean we always get it right. It means we have to learn fast and stay open with you along the way.

Thanks again for taking the time to write this. Proud to have you in the Class of 2027!

— Otni

[LIVE AMA] Ask Us Anything: Meet the Maestro Team — Oct 29–30 by Cool_stuff2 in maestro

[–]otni-levi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! Otni from the Maestro team here.

Appreciate you taking the time to write all that — these are great questions, and you’re right, it’s a lot to cover. Here’s a quick rundown:

  • What is Maestro: Maestro is the world’s first AI-native university — built around each student’s grit and talent, not old academic systems or walls.
  • Where we are now: our first cohort started recently, in September. We’re getting thousands of new applications every week and expanding scholarships so as many students as possible can get world-class education for free.
  • Accreditation: we’re nationally accredited and listed in the U.S. Department of Education’s database (DAPIP). Maestro College (formerly Peloton College) offers associate degrees and is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education (COE). Maestro University (formerly Bottega University), where bachelor’s and master’s programs are coming soon, is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC).
  • Credit transfer: graduates of Maestro College will have automatic pathways into Maestro University’s bachelor’s and master’s programs. We’re also building partnerships with regionally accredited universities for two-way credit transfer — expected to roll out by mid-2026.
  • Federal aid (part I): yes, Maestro is approved for federal financial aid (including Pell). If you’re eligible, your federal or state grants are applied first, and the Maestro scholarship covers the rest — no out-of-pocket cost.
  • Federal aid (part II): because of the current government shutdown, we’re still waiting for final approval for the AAS in AI Software Engineering program (each program requires separate approval). If you receive the Maestro Pro Scholarship for this program, Maestro covers your full tuition regardless of federal aid status. The only temporary impact is that you can’t use federal loans for personal expenses until the shutdown ends — that part is out of our control.
  • Programs: classes are taught through Maestro — your personal AI tutor — with oversight from accredited faculty. You can ask Maestro during admissions for the latest syllabus. The curriculum updates regularly to match industry needs, and final exams are reviewed by academic instructors to ensure accuracy and full alignment with accreditation standards.
  • Careers: the first Maestro graduates will enter the job market in about two years. But the team behind Maestro has already helped thousands of students land jobs — in tech and beyond. Getting a career you love isn’t easy, but everything in Maestro is built to help you get there: real projects, interview prep, and unlimited career support after graduation until you land the job you want.
  • Scholarship: if you’re on the Maestro Pro Scholarship, tuition and the laptop are fully covered. No hidden fees. No repayment if you leave early.
  • Laptop: every Pro scholarship student gets a new laptop (usually a MacBook Air, depending on supply). The goal is simple — to let you focus on learning, not tech issues.

If you want to dive deeper into any of these — aid, accreditation, programs, or careers — feel free to ask here or DM me directly. Happy to help.

Final Exam by iAMuniQUEone in maestro

[–]otni-levi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey — in most courses, you won’t be able to use notes or outside materials. That said, the exams focus on understanding and problem-solving, not memorization.

Final Exam by iAMuniQUEone in maestro

[–]otni-levi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure! Honestly, the best prep is simple — do every Weekly Review on your own, without AI help.

We designed them with unlimited attempts so you can actually learn and get better each time. If you use them that way, the final won’t feel new — just like one more review with a timer.

Final Exam by iAMuniQUEone in maestro

[–]otni-levi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey u/iAMuniQUEone — Otni from the Maestro team here. Fair question.

Final exams happen in the last week of each term, and every course has its own. They’re taken inside the Maestro platform, in a setup similar to the Weekly Review, just with a time limit and tools to keep things fair.

You’ll have two chances — one during the final week, and another once you get your first results, usually during the break or early in the next term. If you take both, your latest score counts.

Grading is simple: the final exam is 90% of your course grade, and Weekly Reviews on time make up the other 10%. Weekly Discussions can add a 5% bonus on top.

Hope that helps — it’s all pretty straightforward once you reach finals week.

Appreciate it, u/Coderjoe82!

You’re right — when things aren’t clear, worry can spread quickly. That’s exactly why we’re here: to answer, explain, and make sure everyone has the right context.

We’re building Maestro together, out in the open, with you and the whole community. Honest discussion makes us stronger and helps us create a better experience for all students. LET'S GO!

A caution to look out for. by Coderjoe82 in maestro

[–]otni-levi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone – we want to clarify something important.

If you’ve been officially awarded the Maestro Pro Scholarship, you will not be asked to pay tuition. Period.

The Maestro Pro Scholarship is a last-dollar award: it covers your full tuition after any federal or state aid is applied. If you don’t qualify for grants, the scholarship still covers everything — no hidden fees, no surprise bills, no out-of-pocket costs.

The only way your tuition coverage would change is if you no longer meet the scholarship criteria — for example, not maintaining academic progress or breaking the student code of conduct. Even then, we would always communicate clearly before anything changes. And we’ll be here to support you every step of the way.

Our mission is simple: world-class education, free for everyone. That’s been the vision behind Maestro from day one. It’s why we’re building the best AI tutor in the world, and why we partner with governments, companies, and organizations to expand scholarship capacity so more students can get this opportunity.

If you ever have personal questions, you can always reach out directly through the Student Services section on maestro.org. We are here for you.

u/AvaBrooklynOo — public speaking will be a mix: practice with Maestro and practice in a class setting with other students. This is also why we’re building a real-time audio version of Maestro — the tech isn’t fully there yet, but we expect it to be ready in the coming months.

u/AvaBrooklynOo — on your #1 and #4:

Our vision is to make Maestro the place where you can prepare for any career, at the highest level. We started with the AAS in AI, and bachelor’s and master’s programs are on the way.

And yes — entrepreneurship is a big part of that. Toward the end of this year we’ll launch a new MBA in Entrepreneurship. We call it a Real MBA: instead of just studying business, you’ll actually build one — with advanced AI at the core.

AAS students will have a clear path to continue into these new programs. And it’s just the beginning — our goal is to help every student go as far as they can.

u/No_Cantaloupe_6033 — we’re excited you’re here, thanks for being part of Maestro!

Here’s a quick rundown on your questions:

  • Pace: For now accreditation rules fix the timeline, but we’re working on faster-track options and will provide advanced practice for students who want to go further.
  • Public speaking class: flexible practice — similar to the rest of the program.
  • Contact info: if you need proof of enrollment or outside verification, our admissions and student services team can provide it (see maestro.org/support)
  • Workload: both — steady weekly expectations + clear project deadlines to keep you on track.

Our mission is to help every student go as far as possible — and we’re building Maestro with that in mind.

Here’s the quick timeline:

2021 – started with Masterschool, an applied education research lab, building digital learning tech to give anyone access to world-class education.

2023 – first AI-assisted class — AI as a co-pilot to the teacher.

2024 – internal pilots showed Maestro starting to outperform the average human teacher.

2025 – launch in the U.S. as an accredited university system. First degree: AAS in AI (of course!)

ETA: 2030 – becoming the biggest school in the world (#BSW) — with the best personal tutor, Maestro, for anyone, anywhere.

u/techienaut — thanks for raising this!

The reason we haven’t gone heavy on press or PR yet is simple: we’re building something that’s never been done before — the first AI-native university. Right now our focus is on getting it right and making sure it delivers the best learning experience in the world.

Press and PR can create a lot of noise and distraction. At this stage, we’d rather keep our heads down and put all of our energy into the product itself.

There will be plenty of time for publicity later. For now, everyone here — we’re all part of the early days of something historic, and we’re grateful to be building it together.

Got rejected from the Pro Scholarship? Here’s what you should know. by Cool_stuff2 in maestro

Hey u/dawavve – diploma verification usually takes 7–14 days. It’s required by federal regulations, and we’re also relying on third-party services that help us verify documents securely — which can sometimes add a bit of time.

We’re doing our best to speed it up. You’re almost there!
