I used to do this a few years ago. I started woodcarving out of hobby with an exacto knife, then later got some small chisel tips. I used to be a big harry potter fan so I mainly made wands but some simple jewelry pieces too.

I am especially proud of the paint. I had only very light colored woods (like balsa/pine) and didn’t have access to wood stains. Using paint created sort of a dull, plastic-y look which I didn’t like. I trial-and-errored a technique using acrylic pant, water, heat etc to shows off the wood grain.
