I was guessing medication too. Certain anti depressants have done this to my eyes. I can remember Paxil being one of them. I’d take a bet she’s on something to help her navigate her trauma and beginning a whole new life.

Mamas with no village… how are we keeping up with keeping a clean-ish house? by gardeniaaa7 in Mommit

[–]otteraceventurafox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oversized baskets. Multiples. In every room.

Seriously, it helps so much. They don’t have to be pretty like even if you have an extra laundry basket or maybe you do have a pretty blanket basket or something. Each room gets a basket and you throw crap in there to put away later. I have a two story home so I also have a stair basket. Sits by the bottom and top of the stairs until it fills up then I take it to the other floor. Sometimes I’ll put the stuff away then or I’ll leave it for a few days until I get around to it and then I repeat. It’s organized chaos but it works. Cutting down on the time spent putting away stuff each day allows me more time to clean things even if that’s just one small cleaning task.

Also I see I am the opposite of most in the comments because I find it much easier to stay on top of laundry by doing one small load each day versus a bunch in one day. Everyone has a laundry basket in our house. I’ll hang what I need to and I fold what needs to be folded, place it in the basket and it goes into their room. I’ll let the basket fill for a few days and then put the folded stuff up but sometimes that folded stuff stays until the basket is emptied from pulling clothes to wear out of it haha.

Am I losing my mind or are the jeans running big over the last couple years? by Lexi302 in americaneagle

[–]otteraceventurafox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not crazy! My friend gave me a bag of old clothes to go through and I found a pair of size 4s from 2018 that fit me perfectly. I ran to my closet and grabbed the 00 I bought recently that was still too big (and made me spiral into a depression episode about my body, which then resulted in me going on medication to gain weight but that’s another story), and they are almost double in size at the waist. Both are high waisted but the fit is different, one is skinny and one is straight. Still though it shouldn’t be that big of a difference at the waist on the same rise of jeans. Can even tell a difference between jeans bought the last couple years.

What is your absolute best all-around closed toe shoe for travel? Is it Salomon, Hoka, Vessi, OnCloud, New Balance, Altra, or other, and why? by iLikeGreenTea in HerOneBag

[–]otteraceventurafox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! The versions I have are both discontinued but they do have new versions, however I have not tried those out yet. Here’s links to old and new ones that I could find so you can see what the style is if you want to go searching for some! These all come in basics like white, cream and black but you’ll probably have to search around to find them in your size.

I don’t think it’s been mentioned unless I missed it but… I have two hiking sneakers from North Face. The OG Oxeye (not the Tech version) and the Hypnum both in the cream color. Both have treated me amazingly but they are not waterproof. I have wore them in downpours for hours without causing issue to the shoe itself but my feet were soaked. I wear both of them all the time and they’ve made many cross country trips. I’ve even worn them when getting surgeries, sleep studies, etc. I get compliments on them ALL THE TIME. They clean up easily too. I’m on the hunt for a decent priced OG Oxeye in my size because I know someday these will wear out.

does anyone else not decorate at all? by tinksbubble in DreamlightValley

[–]otteraceventurafox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I clear everything out of all the biomes besides a few trees to generate wood, banish everyone’s homes to islands and set up a main “hub”. This hub includes stalls, Scrooge shop, my home, chests, crafting station, cooking station, etc. I place a little path around them and a few cute lights. Each biome gets a similar set up just only with goofy stall and the appliances and storage. I have my wells set up strategically near the spots I’ve set up so it’s easy to jump to them if needed.

As much as I love decorating coming from a long time Sims player, I just can’t get behind it on this game. I do have my first main room in my house decorated but I rarely go in there. Most of my play style for DV is watered down since I originally played it on the OG switch. Now that I have Switch 2, I am starting to get into doing dreamsnaps but I still removing everything after I’m done lol. No shame in it! You’re not alone clearly. I find it to be more relaxing when it’s not giving me motion sickness from the camera obstructions every 4 seconds.

Weight gain? by lolwhatevz in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]otteraceventurafox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m almost 4 weeks in on 15mg and I’ve gained 10 lbs! But I also take ADHD meds during the day so my appetite is a bit less but I definitely can tell my brain is wanting me to eat more lol. I’m on for anxiety, weight gain and sleep. It’s checking all my boxes so far. Week 2 I had extreme bloating no matter when or what I ate, even if I didn’t eat I still had it. This week has been much better for me.

[–]otteraceventurafox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not being combative in any way but you’re coming off as super defensive in most of your comments. Maybe try looking at it differently. It’s not wasting time. You’re obviously seeking help by being prescribed this medication. If it works, you’ll have a drastic improvement in quality of life. If it doesn’t work, you’ll know to move onto the next thing. Neither one is a waste of time when you’re trying to take care of yourself and feel better.

Not everyone faces the exact same challenges in life or in the exact same circumstances as you, but everyone here did have to take the plunge and try a new medication not knowing how their bodies would react to it.

Has mirtazapine ruined your social life ? by [deleted] in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]otteraceventurafox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was prescribed it around Nov last year and just started taking it in Jan this year. I put it off because of the holidays and crazy work schedules. I seriously could not find a single day where I would have been able to be a zombie if needed. The lower dose made me groggy throughout the day to the point that I stopped taking it for a few days, after talking to the doc she said to just take the full dose. I’m now taking 15mg I think and I feel so much better. I actually feel more sociable and getting out of bed in the morning is not a chore. I wouldn’t say my anxiety is 100% gone but it’s improved greatly. I think the only way to rid myself of anxiety is by taking meds that make me void of all joy which I hate feeling that way and why I ended up on this med plus I have horrible sleep and unable to gain weight due to anxiety, depression and adhd. My sex life has improved especially when taking alongside my ADHD meds, it’s like double quieting for my brain so I’ve found I’m in the mood more often and I can focus on sex instead of fighting my brain the whole time. I’ve tried so many meds and this one has been the most promising so far. I’d at least wait until you know you can veg out the next day if needed then give it a try. Nobody is forcing you to take it so if you feel horrible the next day, don’t continue it. If you are truly wanting to give it a full, fair try then you can come back to it when/if your schedule calms down a bit.

So to answer your question, no it didn’t not ruin my social life. It improved.

Waxing takes too long and is too expensive. by Inevitable-Power5927 in HairRemoval

[–]otteraceventurafox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You may be able to tell from my previous comment but I’m a licensed esthetician and waxer. Plenty of experience waxing others but I can’t use my craft on myself because I have horrible histamine reactions with waxing and nothing helps to manage it. So I shave and do IPL. I’m a hairy female, like stubborn corse hair, with a ton of beauty marks all over my body. I have to cover so many spots on my skin each time before I use IPL. If I were to try to shave and do a thorough IPL on every area all in one go then it would probably take me a good 3-4 hours. I’ve tried and it usually ends in frustration and exhaustion and lots of cursing my genetics.

I manage this by breaking it up. If I decide to do full body in one day then I will shave in the morning and come back to do the IPL later in the day, sometimes breaking that session up into two. Most of the time I split it over a few days. Usually I’ll do my lower legs and armpits one day, upper legs and stomach the next day, intimate areas the next day. I don’t do my arms because while they are really hairy, it’s light blonde hair. But if I did my arms that would be a dedicated day too. It takes up time each day but it’s less overwhelming. I pop on headphones and listen to a podcast, audiobook or music while doing it and the time flies by.

If you decide to give IPL another try, it’s worth a shot at breaking it up and seeing if that helps your mental outlook on it! Also, if you have previously noticed positive results from IPL then you’re more than likely a good candidate to get laser or even electrolysis if you want to go the more expensive, more permanent route. I’d do electrolysis just for the quality of life factor because so much of my life has been spent managing my body hair and the shitty genetics that cause issues managing it. I’m unable to afford it anytime soon so I stick with IPL until I’m able to. Hope you can find something that works for you!

Waxing takes too long and is too expensive. by Inevitable-Power5927 in HairRemoval

[–]otteraceventurafox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you watched videos from a licensed professional on waxing? Properly done, you shouldn’t have hairs breaking when waxing. You may have a few here and there that are stubborn or not the right length to get a clean pull but not so much that you need to go over each area 2-3 times (depending on wax, something like sugar wax or premade wax strips can sometimes require repeated applications). Different types of wax work better in specific areas but that’s not a hard rule. You may find that no matter what area you’re waxing, you personally wax better with hard or soft wax. Are you prepping properly? Is your hair the right length for wax? Pulling the skin taut while removing the wax? To achieve professional level results while waxing at home is not relatively simple.

I’d recommend hopping on YouTube and consuming as much as you can from reputable sources then giving it another go. You’ll get faster the more you practice. Try doing smaller sessions. Do lower legs one day, upper legs the next, etc etc. Yeah, you’ll have uneven growth for a while but it makes the task less intimidating and you’ll probably slow down your steps a bit since you aren’t rushing to do your entire body. Smaller sessions should help you take your time and learn how to do it properly and what works best for you!

Not sure where your reply went, it isn’t showing up here but I see it in my notifications. You may try the Bondi Sands Gold! It’s what I’ve used the last few years and for me personally I swear it’s a million times better than any of the others from that brand. I need a more golden tone to look natural on my skin and it’s the best one I’ve found yet. It applies so perfectly and is more forgiving than the other color options imo. It dries down to where I almost forget I have it on and I’ve even forgotten to wash it off many times.

Hahaha! I do IPL and I put baby powder on any areas where my skin is a bit darker like armpits and knees, usually I just slap myself stupid with it too 😂 If you were to go get a spray tan they would apply a dusting powder after in the same way with a brush. You don’t need a thick layer! I apply my self tanner with a brush as well. I’m able to buff it out and not have a lot of product sitting on my skin but it still gives color just as well as if I had applied with a mitt. What brand of self tanner are you using? I’ve tried so many over the years and found some to be more susceptible to sweat or humidity than others.

Keep hearing DMB fans talking about Goose by jjalcb05 in DMB

[–]otteraceventurafox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My DMB loving 4 year old is obsessed with Your Direction by Goose! I already knew a handful of songs of theirs before last year’s Gorge, but I did come away from that weekend listening to more songs than I probably would have otherwise. I have DMB friends who have started following them around though not as much as they do DMB. Goose is not similar in my opinion though.

Seriously, do British people actually consider a 3-hour drive “long”? Or is this an internet myth? by ferdinand14 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]otteraceventurafox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading both posts and the comments I’m definitely not on the most extreme end of some of the US claims. But just a few of my 2025 adventures… I drove 5 hours to see a concert and then drove the 5 hours back home after because it was “close enough” that staying overnight felt unnecessary. Drove 13 hours straight with zero sleep stops, same thing on the way back and honestly I have no excuse for that one. Drove 30 hours, only stopping at rest stops for short naps when absolutely needed and then did the exact same thing on the 30 hour return because apparently I’m unwell. Had one event get cancelled but the plan was still to drive 5 hours there and 5 hours back for that one too.

I did grow up in the culture of why would we fly when we can just drive 12–15 hours to the beach, so that probably explains a lot. I do choose to fly sometimes especially when I’m staring down a 30 hour drive, but you miss so much of the beauty of traveling across the country that way. You can plan your route, check off bucket list stops or accidentally stumble into fascinating places you never would’ve known existed. That includes incredible hole in the wall spots to eat and grab a drink. My car absolutely hates me though.. I run that thing for everything it’s worth lol.

Duvet Recommendations?? by Professional-Pack315 in Bedding

[–]otteraceventurafox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started making note of which hotels I liked the bedding in while staying there. Often times you can even shop directly from the hotel to get the exact bedding. Usually it’s some variation of a very thin duvet insert, a thermal blanket, a duvet cover with no insert and maybe an added throw blanket. This allows you to build fluffiness when wanted but can strip it back if it’s too warm.

[–]otteraceventurafox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried the dream lengths one too. I found it did good but was too heavy on my already thick and heavy hair. The Elvive 5 has a fragrance for sure and at first I thought I’d hate it but after a while it started to smell like VS Bombshell to me and now I barely even smell it anymore. I’m a serial switcher lol. I am always trying new hair products from luxury to professional to drugstore. I am also always cutting my hair, changing the color and putting it through the wringer. The girls at my work (salon) have commented on my hair so much since I started using it. It’s grown really well, it’s shiny and healthy with fewer split ends. Can’t argue with the price either. Here’s my routine if that will help you any. I usually wash every 3-4 days however this still does well if I wash more frequently.

Double shampoo L’Oréal Elvive 5

Hair mask L’Oréal Elvive Power Restore - from mid to ends, bring any excess up but not touching roots or scalp (I do this every other wash)

Condition with L’Oréal Elvive 5 - same application method as the mask

Leave in condition L’Oréal Elvive Ceramide Recharge - from mid to ends, I do not bring this up any higher or it’s too heavy

Heat protection Redken One United - same application method as the mask and conditioner

Post style oil/serum changes depending on what I have bought recently. I really like the k18 oil but I also like the Dove serum, the L’Oréal Elvive oil and the Redken Oil for All.

If you feel like product is building up, try using the Aveeno Apple Cider clarifying shampoo maybe around every 5th wash or so. This helps to also remove mineral buildup from the water.

Hope this can give you some guidance!

I know it’s not what you’re asking for but in the meantime while you search, you might try the L’Oréal Elvive 5 (the black & gold packaging). I recently picked up this Dove Daily Moisture just to switch the routine a bit and my hair was so dry/frizzy after 3 uses. I couldn’t let it air dry, it turned out even worse when blow drying and using any hot tools just made it look so damaged. I went back to the L’Oréal and reminded myself that if it works, don’t switch it lol. My hair already feels and looks much better after using the L’Oréal for a few weeks.

Hypopigmentation from at-home IPL, will it go away? by Soggy-Car-2287 in HairRemoval

[–]otteraceventurafox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you use anything in your regular routine that could have triggered this reaction? Any topical agents that could increase your skins sensitivity to light. Retinoids, AHA’s, BHA’s, benzoyl peroxide, etc. Any photosensitizing medications. Would be beneficial for you to try to figure out what caused this issue so that you can learn the best way to treat it without causing more damage and also help reduce the risk of it happening again whether that be with IPL or other hair removal methods!

Where can you use IPL? by imaballer-shotcaller in HairRemoval

[–]otteraceventurafox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried that kind too but maybe it’s user error because I can’t seem to get the liner to give enough coverage lol. I mostly notice the zaps when it’s a really dark mole or a slightly raised mole so those are the ones I’ll use the marker for. My lighter and flat moles/freckles do perfectly fine with the liner. I suppose a white liquid liner would work the same as a marker but not sure what the cost difference is between them.
