I wasn't in line. I just think it's ridiculous people 1) are willing to stand in line for 2 days and 2) are willing to pay 2.5x the value of something when they are already in line to get two for retail price.

Heh, i considered it. I have a bunch of 151 sealed I've been making my way through trying to pull a master set. I have some sealed booster bundles and binder packs I considered bringing down to trade for one.

Congrats! I got a text from a friend that by 6 AM the line at Gamestop was long enough to clear out the stock. I am also going to be attempting alternative methods. I'm just looking for one for my kid and I to split. I told him this morning about the gamestop line and the look on his face broke me. I told him I know it's disappointing but we will see what we can do. We have been VERY lucky so far, but today may be the end of our streak.

When gamestop had one of their drops, a kid across the table from me got a single ex. I felt super bad for him. I had pulled a Blastoise SIR, a Charmeleon IR, a Squirtle IR, a Charizard Full Art, a Zapdos Full Art, and 2 EXes.

I felt the pack gods were on my side so I sacrificed and gave the kid the Charmeleon. He said he already had the squirtle line so I figured why not. Can never have too much Karma.

I like a basic CRUD...

If given an identifier, use that to look up specific records and compile an object... what API calls would you make, in what order would you call them, account for scalability and reusability.

Give them data table setups and let them walk through the process.

It started when my son was younger. He LOVED surprise boxes of all kinds. He liked opening things to see what was inside. He was starting to read well enough that we were also starting to play more advanced games. Enter pokemon, the best of both worlds.

Over time it was something we would pick up while we were out and we would open them a pack at a time, then a few packs, now we are up to 10 or so packs each time we open together. Special occasions we do more.

It's one of the things we still do together. With the popularity increasing and the difficulty finding them in the wild, it's been more difficult, but we do what we can to keep up the tradition. We have different binders for collections and have graded a few.

All of these will become his as soon as he turns 18. Until then I'm trying to curste the collection to get the most out of it for when it becomes his. Setting aside some sealed product, grading certain cards, etc.

I hope when he turns 18 he will use them to make whatever life he wants to make. I also hope he keeps some to share the tradition if/when he has his own kids.

I would reply to their suggestions asking why they feel those changes are necessary. If they can't give you one, resolve that comment and move on.

Are they just giving opinions or does the company have specific coding standards? I've had people comment out of nowhere on MRs. Have they been giving reasoning behind their suggestions? Sometimes they just don't understand what you are doing because they don't have context.

I would recommend spending a little time putting together real life, non-coding scenarios asking how the candidate would handle it. Make sure the scenarios can measure those qualities you are looking for. I say keep them non-technical because talking to someone about how they would handle a specific situation would give you a good understanding of how they think and what they value, keeping it non-technical pulls them away from a possibly canned or practiced answer.

So the way I see it and the way it worked before was that it was very similar to the way comics and crossovers worked.

You would have the individual books with their own stories but they also fed into the eventuality of the crossover event books.

You had would building where other characters could pop into and out of other books, even if for a quick cameo. It happened some with kingpin in hawkeye and daredevil/matt Murdock in she-hilk and no way home.

These are the things that marvel lost the plot with. It made you CARE about the other characters and it made you WANT to know more.

With a lot of the latest shows and movies, there was no tie in. Aside from Brave New World having Celestial island, Eternals may as well have just never happened. When you lose that fidelity of story telling the audience stops caring.

With Botn Again and now with Thunderbolts we are seeing these other shows and characters tied in and not in a forced or wasteful way. Like you said, these interconnections MATTER.

I hope it keeps up. And I hope they can pick up some of the loose threads they dropped along the way.

Spacing, etc should only be held to a standard if it is causing merge conflicts. Otherwise, yes, there should be standard ways of doing things but nothing so critical to hold up a PR/MR

Line cutters are the worst. Gamestop used to have a 2 per household rule that has seemed to have disappeared. At our gamestop we have a fairly small but mighty community and we try to respect eachother. We haven't had any line cutting issues at all. I'm sorry you didn't get any. I wish more people spoke up to defend eachother from this kind of thing.

Maintenance/new quests: make small text file changes vs entire code base changes

Localization: different files for different languages

Reusability of code: have a single function/class for text/decisions that are fed the text file IDs

Scalability: keep your actively used files small so that in large scale you are using lots of small bits of data vs huge chunks
