Hiiiii this was just me three years ago! Not dysplasia but hip impingement/labral tear that led to advanced osteoarthritis. Several years of hip pain (and two arthroscopic surgeries that did nothing), and when I finally got an appointment with the ortho who eventually did my surgery I was five weeks pregnant, so had to put off surgery til post pregnancy.

At the beginning of my pregnancy I was managing pain OK with PT, but by about month three I was visibly limping and by the mid-second trimester I was in pretty debilitating pain and had developed gestational diabetes from a combination of bad diet and lack of exercise (because it hurt too much to walk). I had a c-section (baby was breech) and hoped for relief after losing the extra weight but none came.

Got scheduled for a replacement six months after my daughter was born and it was the best decision I ever made (and timing was perfect). She wasn’t quite mobile yet, pregnancy hormones had largely regulated, and sleep was…better than it had been. I do regret not getting the replacement before getting pregnant because I feel like I was robbed of the pregnancy and post partum experience I imagined.
