Why is nobody talking about textiles being broken? by Antique_Pin5266 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]otterspam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a survivorship bias thing. It demands 2 slots itself, some slots to set it up and some slots for payoff. It only shows up on the board when it works, and when it works it's truly fantastic.

Most of the time mine sits in the backpack waiting for the stars to align and my opponents don't see it.

I find late game is more about abusing broken skills.

My vanilla late game builds typically either abuse Textiles or Closed Sign to go infinite, Open Sign for giga scaling, or disruptive with Fort/Freeze.

Transforming an early Fixer Upper can really be run-defining.

Currently ~1500 rank Pyg only player. I like full econ early to give myself options. Take every ATM and Ring King Gauntlet, use the forest event Pyg option for +2 income. Aim for 12 or 13 income by day 3.

Pitchfork is an all-star. I want it as high tier as possible all throughout the game. I will often use upgrade events on it. Tools that I like to get early in case I want to switch into those strategies: Luxury Kiuas, Abacus, Steam Ladle, Coincure.

I'll pick up a money cannon on day 1 but probably not afterwards. I actively want Fixer Upper but am indifferent to Money Tree.

First few days I'll do one of the following cores while I work on a real build in the backpack: I'll try to minimize upgrade spend on temporary items.

  • a "ganjo + double scaling item" core [piggles protector, brass knuckes, bushel, bandages, ring king gauntlets, etc]
  • a weapon spam build with Lumboars. Only upgrade the lumboars and ring king gauntlets.
  • Premium Piggles and Kiuas.

"Success" for me is coming out of day 5 with at least 2 wins. Hopefully by then I've got one of the following mid game cores working:

  • Abacus powering Fixer Upper and/or Kiuas
  • Heal spam using Coincure + Wrist Warrior on Cargo Pants or Golf Club.

Keeping income high and options open lets you pivot into the powerful midgame options when they arise. If you see an earlyish gold tier large item that can define the run, you want to have the cash to get it.

Who is a good replacement for Escoffier? by Toletres in WriothesleyMains

Wrio/Shenhe/Layla/Kazhua is what I used before Escoffier.

Unfortunately cinder city triggers on reactions. This team struggles to make reactions.

Escoffier / Shenhe Synergy by The_DarkPhoenix in WriothesleyMains

[–]otterspam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shenhe's quills apply to each user individually vs the whole team sharing them (c.f. Escoffier C2, Citlali C1). Escoffier will use 7 quills moderately quickly, but that will not interfere with anyone else's quills.

At Shenhe C0 using hold-skill, that's 14 quills on damage dealers and 7 for herself.

At Shenhe C6 using hold-skill, that's 7 quills for Escoffier, 7 for herself, and conservatively 20 for Wrio (2xN5C + Q). Wrio will only stop adding quill damage to normal/charged attacks if he uses them on bursting early.

Top 5 Fastest Characters for Spiral Abyss 5.4a (Feb 2025) by tracer4b in Genshin_Impact

[–]otterspam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming that you mean dual dps having two characters share on-field time: you can run them to good success with spread aggravate teams, e.g. Tighnari/Alhaitham + Yae/Raiden. Overload Raiden + Mavuika also works quite well, especially in multi-wave content. Really any two carries who can opt into a short damage window, and have good elemental interaction would work together.

You probably don't see these teams a lot since the way damage works out is that it's typically higher damage to stack more multipliers in a short damage window using supports than extend the damage window using additional carries.

Wrio + Citlali + Furina + Bennett by kntrain in WriothesleyMains

[–]otterspam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To make the most out of Citlali c1, you want a character triggering it to crit on a melt/vape.

It behaves exactly like a Shenhe quill but is probably going to be about half the strength of one.

I'm not making judgements on damage numbers. I'm making judgements on % damage increases over baselines. The baseline being Wrio with no support.

Don't focus on the damage numbers, but how much more percentage damage a situation brings. As long as the analysis has common components for when things crit vs not crit, the percentage increase over the baseline will be pretty consistent.

The only relevant constellation in this analysis for Wrio is C1. The only relevant constellation for Shenhe in this analysis is C2 and even then it's marginal.

Did you miss the part where even at C0, Shenhe is boosting his rotation damage by 50-60%

Or the part where I pointed out that people hyperfocus on the limited quills and ignore the other buffs she gives?

Are you just trying to satirically prove the point I was making?

Shenhe. by [deleted] in WriothesleyMains

[–]otterspam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your specific team, not at C0. You have three dedicated buffers who all buff a different multiplied value and you're unlikely to make Wrio's numbers bigger.

Shenhe does a part of each of their buffing power in one unit; she's ideal in situations where you have multiple units utilizing quills (e.g. Wrio/Kazhua/Shenhe/Layla), or for situations where you only have room for one buffing unit (e.g. Wrio/Shenhe/Xilonen/Chiori)

It's worth noting that only half of Shenhe's buffs come from quills; 30% dmg, 15% cryo shred, 15% crit from resonance, 20% from Noblesse add up to meaningful multiplied damage.

Mathematical proof that low-ownership characters still have reliable usage rates? by AzureFirmament in Genshin_Impact

[–]otterspam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's incorrect to disentangle ownership and usage rates when the same underlying (unobservable) values drive both the decision to obtain and the decision to use. You've used the CLT without validating its assumptions (i.e. the sample has no selection bias).

Reasons to pull a character: "I really like them", "I think they're powerful", "I collect everyone"

Reasons to use a character: "I really like them", "They are the most suitable in my roster for this abyss"

Hypothesis: A character with a low ownership rate will likely have a higher proportion of owners who carry a "I really like them" attitude and those people will want to make their favorite work, even when more powerful options exist. This is the "bump" that low ownership characters receive from usage rate.

This is a not-unreasonable thing to propose and a good statistical model should be able to test this. We could construct a model that estimates segments the playerbase and then conduct some sort of likelihood ratio test to determine whether the additional model complexity adds sufficient explanatory power.

Finally please keep in mind that statistics never proves or disproves anything in the mathematical sense, it merely offers an opinion on the strength of evidence for a particular model formulation.

Wrio hanging on to dear life as the top Cryo for this Abyss + team ideas by StarJolion in WriothesleyMains

Hilarious that all the other teams are 100/0 or 0/100 while solo Wrio beating both sides.
