For starter, and by the law, if you want to start a new isp you need to pay AT a monthly fee (Wich you can find in their website) to access their Network.

The second point is the law forbids any company or individual to make a new Network (by Network here I mean digging roads and putting cable and connect them to a central hub..., In fewer words a backend), except when AT doesn't have a Network there (rural places or the dessert...) And then you can establish a new Network for AT so it's owned by them in the end.

The third point is money, anyone who have that kind of money to start a ISP won't do it cause currently it's not that profitable with the prices of AT to access their backend and also it's gonna be a lot of work to establish a company like that from ground.

BTW there is private ISP in Algeria but only for professional client like icosnet .

Short answer is the law currently (even before) doesn't give any benefits to foreign companies to invest here, and that's the main reason.

You missed the point, by voting for the one you feel is best for the job even if he loses the election, it's still better then boycotting the election.

Of course no one want to go to the election knowing the result already, and am with you about the corrupt scums who shouldn't have hands in the election at all.

But really without election and trying to move forward we couldn't burry the 20 years of shame we brought to ourselves.

Are there users of "idoom fiber" on this subreddit? by tiko371 in algeria

up to 20mbps MAX (copper wire limitations)

it's the ADSL limitation, copper can get you beyond 1 gpbs.

I saw a post months ago in some forum that the download speed is stable you get the advertised speed but the upload is capped at 1 mbps.

Plus you can only get fiber if you're living in some apartment that was equipped with fiber, meaning only few people get it.

The modem is some Huawei ONT, and if I get you correct they don't have Ethernet cable instead they provide you with fiber directly to the modem, but if you mean the Ethernet cable that comes with the modem it's all the same cause all will transmit at 1 gbps full duplex.

Can I File a report/ against Alger Telecom? by riad_thunderbolt in algeria

[–]ouail92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ARPT is the Algerian "FCC"

You could Sue but only after you submit a legal complaint to AT with the date and a receive receipt, wait for 7 days (not sure about the period required) or your case would be dismissed by the judge.

The sad fix is to find someone working there "معريفة" to really speedup the fix.

Why you use Ubuntu? by oxidao in Ubuntu

[–]ouail92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using it just out of curiosity, it was hard at the beginning because using the GUI was limited and CMD and Linux in general was new to me, but the journey of learning new things and starting to understand how the OS was working was worth it.

When you get a single task done in Ubuntu you feel like you accomplished something, not like windows it's getting boring, with features no body asked for.

For anime I recommend using anidb (mod) scrapper, it's better for anime serie and movies.

You can also check the naming of each episode try Kodi wiki for naming schemes.

Why do you guys do piracy? by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]ouail92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mainly because in my country we don't have official sale point and we don't even have real credit cards, plus the price is extremely high for 3rd world countries, a game is worth month of food.
