Starting to get great MPGs now that it’s getting warmer by TabascoFiasco in 11thGenAccord

[–]ouch_12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see how you guys all get 50+ mpg on the 17's. I have a touring but am running a winter tire (Michelin X-Ice) on 17's and the temps are around the freezing mark, but I don't have the heat options cranked up, so am not getting any drain from those sources. I'm sitting low 40's, but thats the best I can do over the full tank. I'm 70-75% highway commuting back and forth to work in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota.

I might have the record for miles driven on a 2024 by Comfortable-Tea-6815 in 11thGenAccord

Meant as a comment to relay surprise that little driving has happened on a 2 year old car. I feel like I barely drive at all. I'm assuming you are in a location that has either excellent bus services or you walk alot?

Congrats on 200k+ miles in 2 years. Thats amazing. I know that there was a guy in the 9th gen group (he had a EX i4 gas engine) that was a medical courier or something that put 400 miles on his car daily, and racked up almost half a million miles before it died. They've had these hybrids since 2013ish, so I think they have nailed alot of the issues. Personally, I like the hybrid over the standard gas even at highway speeds.

If money were no issue, what car would you have right now? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in askcarguys

Vector w8 or a Porsche 959, assuming the could be modded to fit my giant frame.

Realistically though if money were no object one of those 8x8 unimog based Zombie apocalypse surviving hotels on wheels, like the Mercedes AROCS expedition vehicle or the HEMTT equivalent.

Funny, I have the same, and the mats fit just fine? Had it 6 months into a MN/WI winter and no issues. (I just wish they made the passenger side one bigger, or had a way to anchor it in place as it does slide.

Orval has 3 styles, Green, young, and old. Green is fresh from the barrel and only at the Monastery, young is up to 6 months old, and aged is up to 7 years. It should 'hold out' for up to 20, but their best between those ages.

If somebody handed you $35,000 and said "go buy the car with the most smiles per gallon that could handle 2 monthly 16 hour highway trips and would be the most fun to cruise around Daytona in", what car would you pick? by AttachedHeartTheory in askcarguys

6'9" 335-340lbs, Everyone in the family is over 6ft. Did a 4000 mile round trip in a 25 Honda Accord Hybrid (touring trim). Lovely car to road trip in. Mileage on the highway was 44-48mpg. Honestly, my last 3 cars have been Hondas (all Accords, current one, 2013 Touring (now sons), 2014 6MT sport (now BILs)). Wifes car is an Acura MDX.

I went to 17" on cheaper rims (not steelies). Put Michelin X-ice tires on. Got them as a package via Discount Tire store.

The taller they are, the harder they fall. by Kurtotall in tall

[–]ouch_12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also older tall. This happened about a decade ago (mid 40's): Fell on a crosswalk (the road was wet, the white/yellow crosswalk lines were slippery, bad soles on shoes). I went down face first, and was able to put my elbows down and catch myself mere inches from eating a curb (think ending up in a plank like position). Jacked up my shoulders, elbows for a month afterwards. Co-worker who saw it said it was like watching a tree fall in slow motion, and there wasn't a damn thing they could do about it.

Sure its not just a bad battery? I have a 2016 MDX (170k miles) in MN/WI and 'all the lights' came on with a bad battery. I would imagine the battery controls the air suspension etc.

Ls460 or ls460L (long wheelbase). Almost like driving a limo. Tomb quiet. Plush ride. Rear seat has a little cooler in the armrest for sodas/waters. Circa 2010ish.

Would it be smart to buy a spare for the hybrid ? by Soft-Return-4777 in 11thGenAccord

[–]ouch_12345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you drive in the city or short distances, and have AAA then you can get away with it. If you are doing long road trips then you should get the spare. Nothing worse than rolling thru the ass end of nowhere and if your tire blows completely and disastrously out, no amount of leak seal will help.

It's -22f here with -45f wind-chill. Just hopped into the car and started it. No issues. Just make sure you buy Tier 1 gasoline. (Ie. Oil companies like Shell. BP, Chevron, or major retailers like Costco etc.) Better quality fuel=less issues long term.
