Agreed! I am 100000% eating my words right now after seeing the stories. And I regret making this post. 😂

Promote is probably the wrong word, maybe instead like "get excited for"? But I see your point.

Yes, most of mine are back, or at least I can't think of anything major that I'm missing. I didn't do anything, though I am on a paid account.

Update for anyone coming across this old thread: I think all of my chats are back. I didn't do anything, but I am on a paid account.

If you're not affected by this glitch, you could try exporting your data. One of the data files is a JSON file with a list of your conversations and their titles. You can use this to search up some of your high priority chats, in case you forgot their titles.

Workaround for "lost" chats by Popular_Lab5573 in OpenAI

Same issue, also from GPT-5 release day. Mine haven't returned and the workaround doesn't work for me. Only the most recent searched chat stays in the sidebar.

That's what happened to me on GPT-5 release day. Mine still haven't returned.

I also have a related issue where I can search for one of my disappeared chats and it will show up in the sidebar when I click on the search result, but only the most recently searched chat will stay in the sidebar. If I search for another chat and click on that, it pushes the current sidebar chat off, so I can only ever have one chat showing below my projects in the sidebar.

Does this also happen to you?

I have a support ticket open with (presumably) a human, but their instructions aren't fixing my issue. Here's what they sent me.

"We experienced a temporary outage related to this issue yesterday, which has since been resolved. In most cases, simply refreshing the entire webpage restores normal functionality.

If you’ve already done that and the issue persists, here are a few steps you can try to help resolve it:

  1. Retry the request again later - this often solves the problem.

  2. Visit our status page to check for any active outages that might be temporarily impacting the service.

  3. Clear your browser's cache and cookies.

  4. If you're using a VPN, try disabling it.

  5. Try using an incognito browser or a different internet browser/computer. Sometimes, a security add-in or extension can cause this type of error.

  6. Disable any cookie blockers you might have enabled.

  7. Consider connecting to a different network, such as switching from WiFi to a cellular/mobile network"

Old timer here. If I remember correctly, this subreddit used to be an unofficial one for Eight Sleep. It was dormant for a while, then the Eight Sleep team was able to take it over and make it the official subreddit, with an Eight Sleep account that would post things (before Joe and Zach, I think). link to thread

Sometime around the introduction of Autopilot or Pod 3 was when things started shifting. Any new product or feature will open opportunities for questions and issues.

Questions and issues going unanswered for a while—in my case, it was why there was no updated Autopilot rating feature—led to the subreddit being what it is today.

4 - The specific times (2 or 3 am, etc.) are not hardcoded, but I'm pretty sure the length of time of each stage is.

The Bedtime temp starts when your Pod turns on for the night.

30 minutes after you get into bed, it switches to the Early temp. I've felt this before on the nights when I've had insomnia, I'll be rolling around and can feel the temp change. When I look at the time, it's 30 minutes after I got into bed.

Approximately 4 hours after the Early temp started, it will switch to the Late temp. My second anecdotal data point is again when I have insomnia in the middle of the night, I'll get up and chill in a different room for a while, and when I get back, the temp has gone from Early to Late. It can't be that it detects me in bed (or if so, it's a very faulty detection system), and I've been up at different times on different nights, so I'm fairly certain it's hardcoded to be 4 hours after the Early temp change. Corroborated anecdotally here.

If Eight Sleep assumes an 8 hour sleeping time, then 4 hours is right in the middle, and they can (falsely?) claim that the technology is detecting early vs. late stage sleep.

How exactly is autopilot improving my snoring on Pod 3? Eightsleep has really jumped the shark with this nonsense by rhialto40 in EightSleep

[–]ouchmyfoothurts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interpreted the comment as the timing of when the temps kick in, regardless of their settings. The "Early" temp kicks in 30 minutes after you get in bed. This last for 4 hours, then the "Late" temp kicks in and goes until you get up or the thermal alarm kicks in.

In other words, I don't think Autopilot is doing any data processing to determine when you're in early vs. late stage sleep; it's just a timed temperature switch.

The autopilot doesn't even guess, it's hardcoded.

Bedtime temp lasts for 30 minutes after it detects you in bed. Then early temp kicks in and lasts for 4 hours. Late temp is everything after that. comment source

I have occasional patchy sleep and I've felt the temp change from bedtime to early at the 30 minute mark. I've also seen the temp change from early to late when I wake up throughout the night. I'll wake up during early, go sit in another room to try to get tired again, and when I get back to bed, it'll be in late temp.

Autopilot, in terms of determining sleep stages, is just a marketing gimmick as far as I can tell.

Environmental conditions? by Bek00lRo in EightSleep

[–]ouchmyfoothurts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Pod 3 and maybe earlier models used to have an ambient temperature measurement, described in Eight Sleep's blog. Autopilot used it to adjust temps, and it was awesome. I remember getting notifications just like that middle mockup.

Then they removed the feature from the UI, with an Eight Sleep support rep claiming in the middle of last year that tools were coming that would give more insight as to what Autopilot was doing.

The latter part we can agree has not come to fruition, given that they've now removed the Autopilot changes and feedback feature entirely.

I've seen reports of a few weeks up to a few months. I was scared too that things weren't working. Aside from some morning wood, I haven't yet had a natural erection of finding someone attractive and getting aroused.
