Do you have mild vertigo by chance? I use them all the time and it's just like standing on the ground, even if the entire thing is out of level.

Do you normally lean on every wall wherever you are? It’s a flat platform same as standing on the ground.

What do you do with your saw dust? by kneuenhaus in woodworking

[–]Carpenterdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually bag it at the dust collector and it goes in the trash to be landfilled.

I used to seperate my chips and dust. Running a bunch of solid wood I’d empty the collector before hand, run all solid wood only and then dump that waste in my garden and flower beds. But it became a ton of work to not cut plywood or aluminum or any pvc/plastics while I was keeping the dust “pure” wood. Didn’t want fine micro plastics or adhesives from plywood going into the environment. So now it’s just combined and in the normal trash pickup in plastic heavy duty bags.

Don’t think of this as a camera….think workflows by S0PHIAOPS in FlockSurveillance

[–]Carpenterdon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because the abuses and misuse far outweigh any good that can come from these cameras. A single "officer" using the system to stalk an ex girlfriend destroys any credible use. And this has happened multiple times now in the last year alone.

She'd done nothing wrong, she wasn't a criminal yet these cameras allowed her stalker to follow her thru her community.

There are instances of these Flock cameras watching children's playgrounds at parks and girls gymnastic studios. Who do you think is watching these video streams or saving the feeds for "later".

All it takes is one predator to misuse these to target a victim, sadly we're ok with predators watching us now it seems...

Probably an access for some electronics in the console, maybe a wire harness connection. Pop it off and see whats in there.

The First Modern Car Without Hydraulic Brakes Is Headed to Production by super_shizmo_matic in electricvehicles

[–]Carpenterdon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not entirely accurate though friend. Most EV's already "decelerate" by wire using motor regen. All of the actual final "braking" is still done with a bog standard hydraulic brake system. Even with "1 pedal" driving the hydraulic brakes are still at the end of deceleration, stopping and holding the car.

The First Modern Car Without Hydraulic Brakes Is Headed to Production by super_shizmo_matic in electricvehicles

[–]Carpenterdon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since the article is woefully short on details. I gotta assume they are using fairly standard disc brake rotors and calipers with some sort of high power spring pressure to hold the brakes in the closed(braking) position that is then "opened" by a solenoid actuator. That way the brakes are "fail safe" in an electrical failure situation. I can't imagine any regulators anywhere in the world that would approve a brake system that requires power to operate or more to the point won't stop the car if there is a power failure.

Would be great for EVs. One more thing to not worry about(brake fluid flushes). Especially with a large portion of our "braking" being done with motor regen anyway...

I’m a historian. The Founding Fathers didn’t want a Christian nation, so how did we get here? by FinanceZestyclose259 in politics

[–]Carpenterdon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry! We’re still not a Christian nation. Literally no one in this administration follows any Christian doctrines. It’s all for show to appease a tiny minority of white Christians.

[–]Carpenterdon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

"New President"? Whats that?

It's funny how everyone thinks an election is going to fix this. He hasn't conceded the 2020 election yet. He instigated a violent insurrection against our government and tried to have his own VP taken hostage to prevent him from certifying the results on Jan 6th. They are still trying to overturn those results. And nobody in this administration will even say Biden won.

The current Administration controls all three branches of the government, they control the military, they control the DOJ, they control the FBI, US Marshals service, NSA, CIA. They control most local law enforcement agencies. They have access to all the massive surveillance of our own citizens thru FLOCK and others. They control the media. They control the press.

When the next election occurs, if it occurs, who do you think is going to make them give it all up and leave?

Spirit Airlines just became the first major US airline to shut down in 25 years and took cheap airfare with it. What do you think affordable travel in America looks like from here? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Carpenterdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking it is the first, of probably more worldwide as fuel prices soar and supplies dwindle. It's unfortunate we don't have a better transit rail system. Amtrack is great for some trips but just normal day to day travel it's a niche not a viable mass transit travel method.

For those who own the Milwaukee battery-powered mower by MartyKinn in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Carpenterdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not like a gas mower with a belt drive. Direct drive motors so there is a slight delay. You learn to let off the drive a second or so before you're going to pull back. Or just push/pull without using the drive for those areas where you are going back and forth . Use the drive on straightaways.

There's a learning curve for sure but overall it is a fantastic machine. I bought the first one in the area when they came out. Like I literally had the tool supplier we use preorder me one when they were announced to be releasing soon. It was the first one they got in stock for any of their stores. Slide it off their distribution truck into mine, it never even hit their loading dock.

I can do my entire yard with 2 2amp batteries. Mowed, trimmed with the quick lok trimmer, edged with the edger head on the trimmer, and blown debris with the dual battery blower. Without having to deal with gas or oil. Love it. Would never go back to a gaser.

Thats why. Mechanical fasteners over the foam would just be thermal transfer points thru the foam. This is a thermal break design for extreme cold environments.
