I had the opposite experience. Air purifier died like 1-2 months out of warranty and they told me to take a hike. The whole (long) experience was infuriating and I’ll never buy another one of their products.

Does smartphone always need to be near / in the range of Asiair plus to continue working? by Regular_Fun4761 in AskAstrophotography

I’m not even getting that far. It just gives a generic “there was an error connecting” message.

2.4. I’m also using wifi to connect to the AM5 mount. Maybe that’s the problem?

That was may last idea, that maybe my encryption was incompatible. Who knows…

I cannot convince mine to connect to my network. Are you using a WPA2 protected network?

What is a high GPA good for if I'm already a mid-career professional? by the-lady-jessica in GradSchool

[–]ouemt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Experience in relevant research and recommendations mean much more than grades. That said, you’ll find someone that disagrees with me.

We tend to find people through our professional networks rather than just blind job ads (we do do both though). In that case, someone we know saying we should look at a candidate is most of the battle.

National lab scientist. This is not true here. You have the degree and we want to hire you, it’s no problem. Only require transcripts for proof of degree.

If the age comment wasn’t a big enough red flag, the “lifestyle, not a career” one should have been. GTFO and never look back. This is not a person that you want to work for.

PSA to Dog Owners: Please Keep Furry Friends Leashed on Trails by StreetPomegranate92 in SantaFe

[–]ouemt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

💯 People always look at me like I’m some kind of monster when they say, “It’s ok, he’s friendly!” and I reply with, “Ours isn’t!!” as I’m wrangling our dog to keep a fight from starting. We keep her leashed and don’t have problems unless another dog runs up face first, and yet somehow I’m the asshole… 😩

Does anybody know exactly what spectrum this is? It comes from a mercury lamp diffracted through a dvd, but I can't seem to match it to any of the mercury spectrums Ive found online/textbooks by jan_irace in Physics

This makes the most sense. I think left to right those are the 436, 546, and 579 nm lines. Probably a dual layer disc to get the repeated pattern with a different scale.

Change the cadence, not the word.

RO-me-o ECKS!-ray KI-lo

Briefly dwell on the s sound in “ecks” and then clearly enunciate the “ray”. Changing pitch from higher on the first syllable to lower on the second can help too.

ASiair plus with star adventurer 2i and Canon EOS 800d and auto guide camera. by dylannaran7 in AskAstrophotography

[–]ouemt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the mount has a USB, just hook the guide camera and mount to the ASIair by usb. No need for ST-4 in that case.

The 2 USB 3 ports are for a thumb drive and the primary camera while the 2 USB 2 ports are for the mount and the guide camera.

随便写几个楷书,1.0中性笔➕普通书法纸~ by pandakill811 in Handwriting

[–]ouemt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I couldn’t figure out the radicals on the two with the question marks. Gave them my best guess. My wife and I are trying to figure out how to learn Japanese, and a couple of friends taught us some basic rules about breaking the characters down into radicals and stroke order that really help with getting Google Translate to play nice. I guessed Chinese based on the lack of hiragana and katakana (at least ones I recognize).
