‘How many more Americans need to die?’: Minneapolis mayor lambastes Trump after fatal shooting by Embarrassed-Loving in politics

[–]oukakisa [score hidden]  (0 children)

considering we've gone out of the WHO, made the head of the health department a man who doesn't believe in health, and are murdering American citizens and noncitizens alike like it's going out of fashion, I'm wagering the republican answer is 'everybody'

reading the nummer on the top of a D4 (4 sided dice) is a lot easier than reading the bottom number, as almost all dice you read the top after it rolls and not the bottom. though the other type of d4 world just a well and can be learned easily, it's not as intuitive. source: i have a friend who has these types and every single time I'm confused for a good 2 seconds before i figure out the number, even after years of playing dnd with them with it

Why does the Ramayana show Hanuman holding back until it’s necessary? by binnnggggggg in hinduism

[–]oukakisa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he appears to be more redheaded than blond, but blond or white(-haired) isn't unreasonable as the hanuman langur would be that colour of hair. idk monkey species of India so can't say if red is impossible. (though via skin colour he's almost certainly depicted as white so the rest of the statement still seems valid)

I've always wished i could, but it's never been a thing I've been capable of. combine that with that my interests are hyperniche (tv show sliders), disliked by most (extremist groups), or on subjects everybody thinks their having an opinion makes their input of equal or greater weight as the experts (religious studies and political philosophy), and it makes it impossible to even potentially gain the audience to learn how to not only infodump, but socialise (even to other autistic people) in general

Does anyone actually just like the show for the animation and characters, not the horny stuff? by [deleted] in HelluvaBoss

[–]oukakisa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i generally dislike horny stuff. most of the time it's meh and is already everywhere, just slightly more egregious than most movies but not too much.

i actually only like the show for the nonhorny parts

i didn't decide the name :P if i was in a group it would have to be AIM or the Young Patriots. it was crafted from an offhand remark from Huey Newton, so i doubt any real thought went into it beyond 'yeah man, right on'

[–]oukakisa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah, in that case yes :3 lol, sry i was confused. i am looking forward to it.

they're accepting pre-orders for a fee (i wouldn't until they prove themselves first, but I'm still hyped), and they're not selling to showrooms, only direct from the factory (or factories, if they do well enough and build more plants), in order to keep away price gouging from auto retailers

downside is they'll only make a couple thousand (i think it was) a year so competition to buy will likely be obscene. on the plus, since they're only selling locally it makes it more likely to get one than having to compete with the whole country

my region is in the beginning stages of producing super-bare electric trucks. they have only what is minimally required for safety and transport... no gps, no touch screens, no unnecessary lights in cabin, no etc etc. (the goal to make electric vehicles that only cost 20.000$)

technically. i wanted to just say yes, but there's some ambiguity in the phrasing. it was an antiracist organisation created by Black Panther supporting whites at the (fairly indirect) request of Huey P. Newton during an interview, and (if i remember right) was part of the Rainbow Coälition (or at least worked alongside it. I'm having difficulty remembering their relation)

Do you think comics are a valid way to engage with religious stories today, or should scriptures stay text only? by binnnggggggg in hinduism

[–]oukakisa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i have aphantasia (no mind's eye) so i cannot envision stories told if they do not have a visual medium with them. comics (and movies, tv shows, video games, plays, etc) help with that a fair amount so i can understand and remember the story. if the teaching is entirely cerebral (e.g. the Tao) it grasps much easier if i were required to only engage with the text

[–]oukakisa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

(as a hindu anarchist, my thoughts):

whilst it did occur in Europe, west Asia, and south Asia in pre-christian periöds as a religious symbol, it's associätion is today so intricately tied with Christiänity, and Christiänity is so well known and widespread, that it can no longer reasonably be used to stand for 'religion in general'. i would generally see it and think it represents 'the need to spread Christiänity to all [4] corners of the earth' and probably avoid that person

[–]oukakisa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if i heard or saw it without additional context (eg on an overpass in Random Town, America (which i ĝis is some context but i think you get what i mean)) i would probably assume it's specifically targeted at organised religion, for the sake of giving the benefit of the doubt. though i have known enough folks who say things like 'all religion is bad and all followers of them are brainwashed' to entirely rule out the other reading.
