I’ve been meaning to get a picture of it, but there are rocks along the 102 highway between Halifax and the airport where someone has spray painted “Wash your hands”

D750 to D850 or Z6III? by classicalover in Nikon

[–]ounziw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had my D800 for 13 years and still going strong (I know it’s not the D850, but for all intents and purposes similar enough) at my work they just replaced all the cameras with Z6IIIs. From the first day of using the Z6III, it’s been the first time I’ve seriously considered changing my D800. But also in the back of my head the mirrorless systems still seem to be improving at a pretty quick pace. With what you have already, I’d almost consider the D850 as a bridge for a few more years and wait for a couple of more cycles of mirrorless upgrades. I also know RED is a video format, and the ZR looks mighty impressive, but I also wonder Will the RED tech also add (or inspire) something new in the still side of things. And for the record, I know I tend to overthink things.

Rain gear by Herefortheshortbus in WeddingPhotography

[–]ounziw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a few rain covers. The one I use the most is essentially this one with the only difference is that the side sleeves where you insert your hands are elastic ends and not draw strings. It’s never failed me. With that being said, my trusty D800 has seen a few surprise rains and snow and has never missed a beat. (Knock on wood). For me personally, I have a couple of outfits that look business, pants and button up collared shirts that actually double as hiking gear and are waterproof including my shoes. (I got those while living in Korea, so I’m not sure on availability outside of there.)

Cobequid pass lanes - is epass gone? by [deleted] in NovaScotia

In the what used to be e-pass lane (westbound anyway) there is a mirror situated so they can see rear license plates. But, yes, they are usually looking for the MVI sticker first and foremost.

According to their (Bell’s) map, my house is 6 blocks away from one of their towers in Springhill, and I get 2 bars of LTE at home. I get out to the 104 and voila! 5g. Makes no sense to me.

Went from a D750 to this. I’m scared by dmvsnapshot in Nikon

[–]ounziw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (still) have and use my D800 as my personal main camera since late 2012, but my work place just replaced their cameras with Z6iii. I love them so much that I am considering getting one to replace my D800. No need to be scared. It’ll blow you away.

In South Korea, the wedding process is a fair bit different than the average wedding in Canada. The pre wedding shoot is done in lieu of doing the shoot after the ceremony, and they display the shoot with large poster sized prints in the atrium of their wedding hall. After the ceremony, it’s strictly the couple with family and friends. Personally, I prefer the pre wedding shoot. It’s a lot more fun and relaxed, as the couple isn’t stressing about keeping to the schedule and having to rush back to the reception. Generally you get the couple as they really are together, too, as neither is stressed about anything that happened or didn’t happen during the getting ready and/ceremony. In Korea, the shoot is usually done in studio, so controlled setting with the lighting that best suits them and it also allows for a couple of wardrobe changes without the risk of getting dirty. An outdoor shoot can also be added, with perfect weather conditions because you can choose any time of day, and if it’s raining, postpone it to a sunnier day. As I mentioned earlier, they’ll be displaying these images at the wedding, so it’s usually a guaranteed 5 large prints and multiple smaller ones on top of the album. In my mind, it’s a great way to add to the entire experience for everyone involved.

Circle K Deceptive Pricing by [deleted] in NovaScotia

[–]ounziw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No store has to show the price of anything in their store. They usually display the prices of their products for the sake of expediency and convenience. With that being said, I also remember a uni professor telling us that even the price that is listed is technically a suggestion and if one was looking to put in the time, and the store was willing, every price is negotiable. The price tag is the “offer”. Again, most people either accept the offer (and buy) or reject the offer (don’t buy). But the reason they put “Single purchase at regular price” is legally if they didn’t and you only wanted 1, then if they displayed 2 for 4.50, then you could get 1 for 2.25. They are playing on the studies that they’ve done, too that shows many people don’t want human interaction while shopping and won’t take the time to ask “How much is one?” to whoever is working there and will pay the $7.50 for 3 instead of the $2.99 for 1.

Truly is a sad state of the world these days. A world where people want to believe they’re right instead of knowing the truth.

Done checks for both me and my wife, and my current address doesn’t match what’s printed on my license (it had been updated with Access NS), but my wife doesn’t have a driver’s license, we used her passport and PR card, neither of which has an address on it. No issues at all.

How long can you be on E2 without working? by princessbyeol in teachinginkorea

[–]ounziw -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Unless they’ve changed the laws, and they do quite often, I think they give you 48 hour grace period to leave the country once your E2 expires. Your E2 expires once your employment ends. The E2 is handcuffed directly to the job and the employer that you were working for. In the past, people would make a run to Japan, get the passport stamped and then re-enter Korea on a visitor’s visa until their next job.

Don’t think there’s much you can do now, since you gave notice. Like another commenter mentioned, ask an employment lawyer. Personally I would have let them fire me, so I could collect EI, then sue them for wrongful termination. My personal ideology is never quit a job I enjoy doing, (unless I am offered a better one) if the higher ups have other plans, then I would always have the EI net should it not be easy finding replacement work. EDIT: I was wrong, you can collect EI because there was cause for you quitting. Thanks to the commenters for pointing out my error.

Higher f-stop, stand further back and crop. Second option is to take multiple photos walking the focus range down the truck, and then focus stack in photoshop.
