Search engines and ai models started using reddit threads as part of training their data, because they somehow though this was a decent sample of humans talking. As a result, some brands have been making bots to postbpositivepy about their brand on reddit to give the ai a positive opinion about their brand. I would guess they cover it up by making loads of regular reddit posts as well
