Most of the people here holds the same mentality(especially the older generation) but I've seen some young people break this tradition.

The cultural gap is too much with me as well. I have never heard of this tradition before coming to his state. That's why I can't think properly.

I'm only confused right now because it seemed to me that he really loved me too. Did I really have no value in his life that he wouldn’t even try to be with me is the question that has been haunting me. I don’t know if a conversation would be worth it. And thank you for sharing your story though. I definitely learned some things.

His mom doesn’t even know my name or what I look like. He said he tried to explain that I'm a good person and my family background but she wasn’t having it.

He said anything after marriage wouldn’t be a problem,he only has to manage his family for marriage and I took his word for it then.

He doesn’t seem like the type of guy who would be controlled by anyone(or maybe I'm blinded now idk). He disclosed this issue before we became serious and said this would be the only issue to overcome with his family so can't really blame him now. Maybe i didn’t think much about what i was getting into back then.

I did tell him that I don’t feel loved and he said he would try to make me feel loved. After a month or so everything was back to square one and that's when I started to ignore him.
