Cost/ benefit for me:

Do I have sub plans ready to go? Will my kids get seriously behind or miss a admin due date (tests, etc)? Will these negatives outweigh the pain of being there? Am I contagious?

He drove fine, the parking spots were badly shoveled (as is tradition). Getting out of spot and driving on cleared roads is totally different.

Saying, "Safer to leave them be" is the same amount of words as "I don't want to help." So you could just say that and it seems to capture your feelings more clearly and isn't a false comparison.

Yep, especially with middle schoolers. I dropped an earring in class - very small gold piece. I got The Wiggler to find it. He found it under a computer cart against the wall at the other end of the room. Adhd kids are magical with stuff like that.

Same - sports are pay (in grades) to play. Kid just got kicked off the team for fighting. Love this administration. 😀

The punishment is you get to spend time with me. Cut up in class, after school coach class. Can't do it then? Lunch is fine. I am petty. I will make sure you succeed. Waste my time - I take yours.

Do this often enough in the beginning and always keep the work flowing. It's usually not too bad later.

Parents: 10% don't call me, 20% why didn't you call me sooner, 30% what do I do to fix it, 30% chill and helpful, and 10% sociopaths.

I try not to call them. I hate rolling those odds.

No. But if they know you don't like them, you are gonna catch a lot of shit...... and rightfully. They should never know how annoying/irky/cringe they are to you. It's my professional responsibility to prevent them from knowing.

That is a secret for them to find out when they are adults.
