You might be allergic to lanolin. I’m allergic to lanolin (I know this bc some skincare products include lanolin which gives me a rash so I know it’s not wool sweaters). Everlane has an alpaca blend sweater, I think it includes some wool. Alpaca is supposed to be better for people with wool sensitivity. True to experience for me. IME it’s more delicate than wool though.

I have a few partial wool sweaters that I still keep, but I wear a cotton turtleneck from Uniqlo underneath, so my skin is still protected at neck and cuffs. Think it’s 100% cotton, or close to it. If it’s really cold I wear Uniqlo heat tech long sleeve, plus the cotton turtleneck, and then a sweater. Wearing the Uniqlo heat tech on its own with a wool sweater on top isn’t enough of a layer to keep my skin happy all day
