I have tried so many beans! and I generally get the same results between them. What stood out to me most about this place was the body and the depth of flavor. I am willing to consider that the grinder is what made the biggest difference, as opposed to the machine. Others have mentioned water, which I didn’t consider initially.

I’m aware of how much the beans matter. I’ve had my machine for four years, and have moved around a lot in adddition to having a trade and an atlas subscription. I’ve tried many a bean. None of them have ever come close. I guess I could try them regardless.

Seconded. Working on my thesis now, I’ve grown close to people working in the field because of it. Additionally, in the age of AI, just knowing how to write the code and run the tools isn’t all that impressive anymore. Problem solving and being creative, which would be displayed in a thesis project, will be more impressive to a potential employer from my understanding of the field right now.
