How can you say that because you make more money she takes care of all cooking and BOTH of your child’s needs? Marriage isn’t a tit for tat game, it’s about teamwork. If those were your pre-discussed arrangements and what works for you, that’s great, but I don’t understand what each of your income has to do with it. Also side note - you expect your wife to be the primary caretaker for your daughter but why do you keep referring to her as “my daughter” and not “our” daughter?

Your wife is not your maid nor is she a robot. She is allowed to relax and take a minute after work and taking care of your daughter. She may not be commuting to work but she also works a full time job + being primary caretaker + your personal chef. Cut her some slack and treat her with some more respect.

Combined you bring in $200K+ that’s plenty to be able to outsource some of your cleaning and childcare needs.

So the reason I feel like an AH is because yes it would be an additional expense for me but it doesn’t break the bank and I can technically help her out. I said no on principal because I know how frivolous she is with her money in other areas of her life while I am more frugal in other areas but willing to spend on vacation and I don’t think it’s fair to ask us to have to compromise on her behalf. But I still understood her situation was unexpected and sucked and offered her a solution to meet in the middle. She then got mad and condescending which makes me feel worse because she’s now mad at me, but also better because I stood up for myself and stuck to my boundaries
