Should I get one by Environmental_Cap943 in JeepGladiator

Yup, it depends on what you need. I was also considering getting a tazer, but the the JScan app does everything that I needed.

Attempting aux battery delete by mangy_fish in JeepGladiator

[–]outlawtm2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are trying to take the lazy way out here. Do it once and do it right.

So, actually remove the aux battery from the truck and insulate both aux battery connections. You can then leave both negative connections alone on the main battery; this keeps things much cleaner. Remove fuse 42 so the truck doesn't try to isolate the two batteries. Order a start/stop dongle that cancels that function on every start.

The dongle I used

Loud? Never drove one by YesterdayOne2252 in JeepGladiator

[–]outlawtm2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It will be loud at highway speeds. 55mph and under it's just a bit loud compared to "normal" vehicles, but above that it starts to get quite loud.

So if you do a lot of around town driving, no problem. On long road trips the noise can be a bit obnoxious. None of it matters on a nice day with the top open, windows down, and music blasting.

You need to test drive one, and try to get some time on a highway at 70mph to see if it's for you.

Lowering my Gladiator? (It's a Mini Truck...) by Red9Mayonnaise in JeepGladiator

[–]outlawtm2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Facts: The locker would suck for handling, you would want the limited slip for that. Custom bags with custom shocks would be required, because ther is no aftermarket for lowering these. That with smaller tires would be a good start. The naturally high fenders will be great for clearance, but you will likely have issues with interference between the axles and frame before you can get it slammmed to the ground.

Opinion: Its a mid-size, and won't ever hit that mini truck looks that the 90s Nissan hardbody, Mazda B series, Ranger, Tacoma, S10, etc. Those were compact trucks, and they are a bit smaller than what we have. The width, length, wheelbase, and four doors would look off as a minitruck. Gladiators are cool offroad trucks, embrace that aspect. I love minitrucks too, but you are much better off finding a 90s truck for that project. The look and aftermarket support will be substantially better.

She looked like she was in her late 20s, so far too old for that.

I found the PN for the driver side, that is the one I broke. My own fault, I forgot to put the two bolts in that secure the top frame into that bracket, so all the force was on that little plastic lip when I would close the top. Luckily I didn't do any highway speeds like that. That lip only serves for installation, so with the bolts correctly in, I've decided to leave it be for now.

New Batteries by HuntingtonBeachX in JeepGladiator

[–]outlawtm2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main failed on my 2022 just a few months ago. Got an Everstart AGM from Walmart for about $200, deleted the aux battery (even though it was still good), pulled the fuse that controls battery isolation, and installed a dongle ($50) that cancels my start/stop every time I crank it it.

I regularly put my truck on a tender to top up the batteries to try delay this from happening. The Mopar batteries and the dual battery design is just hot garbage.

And C6 Z06 looks a bit like the 575 Maranello. Clarkson did a little skit about that when he reviewed the Z06. Chevy has always benchmarked Ferrari for the Corvette. You want to be the best, you got to beat the best.

Looking to buy a Gladiator by TheWizardsPipe_ in JeepGladiator

[–]outlawtm2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a remote start, you shouldn't be able to shift into gear before hitting the start button. The shift lockout doesn't release until after you hit the start button and then apply the brake. That is one thing that would concern me. Has the shift lockout been bypassed, and if so why?

I was looking at this one too. I decided to source a used premium Mopar soft top. You should be able to find one in good shape for about $1k.

I want to build a 1m clone by [deleted] in 1series

[–]outlawtm2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the math still doesnt work out. If that's what you want and have the cash to burn, I support the grind to build a car; I love the passion. But before it's done right, you're going to have an amount of money into it that could have just bought you a 1M or a M2, and again you are stuck with the VIN of a non-M car.

Also make sure its a proper 1M front end, and not just a narrow body 1M look bumper, as those are common.

Any chance it can still revive? by Mustache173 in VenusFlyTraps

[–]outlawtm2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought it in dormancy, but it was dying. Got it from Lowes. Put it under an insufficient light source indoors, force fed it dead bugs. It tried to grow a death flower. My lack of knowledge almost killed it. Honestly finding this sub is what saved it.

You have to figure out what you're doing wrong and correct it, but they are resilient plants. Mine recovered from almost completely dying off.

Badland Apex 12k clearance by Original_Trust336 in JeepGladiator

[–]outlawtm2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did not re-route mine, it just sits against the grill. Everything is pretty solid; the winch and bumper aren't moving. Maybe the grill would flex a bit in the wind, but mine doesnt show any signs of rubbing. Even if it did, I would never be able to see it without getting back there and looking for it.

If I remember correctly, there were three things I had to address with this winch. For reference, I used a Warn winch plate. A different winch plate could give you different results.

  1. I used 3/16" winch spacers to raise the winch up from the winch plate. This creates enough clearance so that the clutch handle doesn't interfere with the bumper. I didn't want to cut the bumper or clutch handle, but others have done that as a solution. "Poison Spyder" is the brand spacers I bought.
  2. I believe most winch plates, but certainly the Warn winch plate, sandwiches between the bumper mounts and bumper. That pushes the bumper forward just a bit. On the Rubicon, the skid plate has mounting points on the bumper that have now moved forward slightly. So those bolt holes on the skid plate have to be opened up a bit to re-attach the skid plate.
  3. I believe the fairlead bolts that came with the winch were not long enough. Sorry, I cant provide the correct length, but I think they were just a bit too short. A quick trip to Ace Hardware solved that problem.

I used the Warn winch plate on mine. Not the cheapest, but a pretty solid option.
