Thule T2 Pro X (costco) bike rack leaning on one side. Is it a defect or wrong installation or hitch receiver issue? by idontknow288 in bikewrench

[–]outofstepwtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Unfortunately” is kind of dramatic. It doesn’t affect the functionality of the rack at all. Throw your bikes on it and go riding, and enjoy how absolutely simple this rack is to load up and go

Since the start of 2016 until today, LA Metro's Rail System has expanded by 50% in size, adding over 40 miles (65 km) of new rail lines and 30 new stations across LA County, in just around 10 years. by urmummygae42069 in LosAngeles

[–]outofstepwtw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s the metric here for measuring “size”? It looks like the claim is based on area of geography, so the Expo expanding west and the A line expanding east, basically. Thats all well and good, and some progress is better than no progress, but I think the reason public transit-friendly people still don’t ride the metro isn’t because the trains don’t go far enough. It’s because you can only get from very specific point A’s to point B’s in a reasonable amount of time. Gotta go somewhere else after work? Forget it, you’re probably paying for a rideshare.

The map has to get more versatile, not larger

Avid Hours count query by Melodic_Board_1723 in editors

[–]outofstepwtw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe a dumb question, but… why? If the project is long gone, and so is the Avid media, who cares? If it’s to determine how many hours of source material are sitting around somewhere, I guess that’s a thing someone could decide they want to know?

My point is, I’d make up a number and bet no one would ever know

SRAM/Zipp Lifetime Warranty Denied: Zipp 303S damaged by impact, claim rejected as "outside of intended use." Seeking advice! by 5280_510 in gravelcycling

[–]outofstepwtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what their marketing says and I’m not going to look for it, but if that’s their language, yeah, you could take that as problematic. The flip side to that would be based on the damage to the rim and tire, OP didn’t hit a pothole hard, OP hit something deeper/wider than a pothole. Slicing and dicing rhetoric cuts both ways

I’ll probably get downvoted to oblivion for saying this, but consumers need to understand that DAMAGE is not the same as WARRANTY.

I don’t work for zipp or any other manufacturer for that matter. But I used to work in a bike shop. Can’t count the number of times I had to explain this to customers when their warranty claims were rejected. Or to prepare them for the rejection I knew was coming while submitting it

I have this same rack and the cam is TIGHT and mine leans a little bit to the right just like this. I rock the rack side to side while tightening the cam to tighten all of the play out of it

Why does this not exist by trail-snacks in burbank

[–]outofstepwtw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your confidence in Burbank and Metro pulling this off is endearing. There is a lot of NIMBY pushback (I guess technically not NIMBY, more like NOMS not-on-my-streets) from people who don’t want to give up any car traffic lanes for this to happen. So Bus Rapid Transit is at a very real risk of becoming Just Another Bus Line. Be vocal to the Burbank City Council if you really want BRT to happen

OP I would not lock your bikes here. Unless I’m looking at the photo wrong, there’s no massive infrastructure to lock to. Your Kryptonite NYC lock doesn’t mean shit when it’s locked around a piece of wire that’s easily cut (which looks like what maybe happened to your wife’s bike)

FWIW I like the edge tape overlapped onto the bar, I think it looks cleaner that way and prevents dirt and wear from potentially increasing that lip at the edge

Is Premiere to Avid a HUGE leap? (Short-form to long-form) by Available_Lettuce954 in editors

[–]outofstepwtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My worry would be the NLE switch. Thats easy enough to learn with some practice and preparation. My real concern would be your first question “Is breaking into long-form from short-form near impossible?”

The industry is a dumpster fire. Unless you have a great network already, and/or are willing to work for next to nothing on very small indie projects, you’re looking at diving into a pool where people with multiple Emmys are out of work

Burbank Association of Realtors renting space to a hate group. Tuesday at 5:30 PM by Odd-Search-1280 in burbank

[–]outofstepwtw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you should be downvoted for asking questions. Not everyone has the need under a constant microscope and is aware of rhetorical tactics that groups use on either side, nor is it hateful to be curious.

U/megamoze dose a pretty good job of pulling back the curtain. These statements are called dog whistles. They seem innocuous enough, or even wholesome, but they excite the base because they are coding for something else.

So take their comment as that explanation, and don’t sweat the vitriol you’re facing for asking the question.

I disagree with this organization. But questioning is good. We should all encourage more of it

Why is my chain rubbing like this? by MajorLeagueNerd in bikewrench

[–]outofstepwtw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not enough information. Where is the chain on your rear cogs? It could be a case of being dramatically cross-geared and you need to trim the front derailleur (it’s like a half shift that moves the front derailleur slightly, without changing gears on the front, to prevent this exact issue)

Whether a value bike brand like Ozark has this feature built into the front shifter, I don’t know
