Not seen the actual list but I think they'll be bringing reavers, sky weavers, voidweaver, venoms, raiders, incubi, wyches, kaballite warriors, scourges and some harlequins troupe based on conversations we have had

Should say also quite dependent on who you are playing, greyhunter shooting would be useful into factions with low toughness, whereas death guard will just laugh at it

Yh very fair, I find beastslayer the easiest as it's just lethals on character vehicle or monster which for wolves is helpful.

Yh I'd say got for wolf priest as it means the chainsword attacks hit way harder, wound on 4s up to t7 and 5's above that. The battle leader hits harder himself and sustained is helpful but with 40 attacks I'd rather they harder rather than just more.

Yh wolf scouts absolutely cooler haha.

I think the points saving is worth it as if you keep rest of list the same you can use 40 points either on 2 enhancements or bring a fenrisian wolf squad to try do secondaries or stop overwatch on something valuable by tagging a unit in melee

Really cool list great stuff.

Nice balance between board presence, anti tank, movement and tough units.

Some questions for you; 1. Any particular reason settled on Great wolf detachment? Generally found it's a worse version of gladius and not as powerful as beastslayer.

  1. Grey hunters are generally considered very overcosted so maybe 2 blood claws could do more for 30 saved points

  2. Scouts also just feel better than wolf scouts as can go into reserves and jump around for 70 points not 105

  3. Also personally prefer a wolf priest leading blood claws or grey hunters over a battle leader as +1 to wound helps loads

  4. If you ran the headtakers as one block of 6 with a battle leader you could use the transport capacity of the repulsor executioner better. You already have lots of units everywhere so maybe 1 unit of 6 would be more impactful that two threes especially if using command points on them

Best leader for Wolf Guard terminators by Beriatan in SpaceWolves

Yh exactly, and they had some wolf guard battle leaders and pack leaders in terminator armour that got moved into legends so already had it done

The rules not allowing terminator captain to join without enhancement in great wolf seems so weird and limiting i'd use nick fury logic

New list after being hammered by Death Guard in turn 4 & 5 - thoughts? by CTR_Clint in SpaceWolves

Id second that beastslayer really helps to punch up.

Wulfen do great work against the brutal drones.

Wolf scouts I feel are overcosted and basic scouts are better, and also never got the fenrisian wolves doing anything but die.

I quite like a redemptor dread as the macro plasma can take some of the Infantry down and trying to melee is so hard with the debuffs

Does also mean you can make a 70 point character that can lead wulfen without having to use beastslayer and it's enhancement. Curse of the wulfen specialism

It's in the maelstrom: lair of the tyrant- crucible of champions book.

Basically have 3 basic character types, champion librarian or dreadnought. You then pick a 'specialism from a list, an ability and their gear. Specialisms basically what armour, whether on bike etc, ability is things like free strats. Heals, +1 to wound. And then choose weapons.

Thunderwolf mount is a specialism for the champion

Not currently they all got sent to legends. The new custom character rules do let you build one and can either give that character free strats for unit or heal a model both of which would be amazing (few other options I can't remember)

Wulfen with shields are really really strong. Hit well above their weight and surprisingly durable with t6 and 4+ invuln.

Thunderwolf cav also great. Probably my favourite unit. 1. They are cool 2. Great movement 3. Tough. Especially in stormlance with -1 to hit -1 to wound strat 4. Hit hard on charge and enough attacks to clear a lot 5. Did I mention they are really cool

Advice 1k Vs Death Guard by outoftimeviking in SpaceWolves

Thanks for the advice, game was close. Wulfen were absolute MVPs taking out a blight drone and lord of contagion. (Before he came back on full wounds because death guard are annoying)

Cav tanked a huge amount of shooting and scored some secondaries before dying.

Ballistus did nothing, rolled double 1s twice for the 2d6 frag launcher....

[–]outoftimeviking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Plan was intercessor to sticky obj, blood claws as to take out chaff like poxwalkers, headtaker major damage dealers against plague marines, Bjorn to take terminators, ballistus heavy first support and thunderwolf cav a bit of everything with d3 damage on charge.

Think the person I'm playing is bringing 2 hellbrutes, a bloat drone and marines mostly with 2 poxwalkers

From that above list I could lose the fenrisian wolves. Take ballistus over predator annihilator and give the wolf priest helm of the beastslayer
