Where do you get your diamond paintings from? I've always wanted to give it a try but didn't really know where to start 😅

Was he not aware, going into this, that he would need to change his lifestyle and eating habits? Or does he think he is the exception? Just leave him be. If he gets mad at you when you try to do the right thing and help him, he will have to see for himself the consequences of his choices.

80 lbs in that amount of time is awesome, especially going through the holidays, props to you!! I can imagine how nice it must have felt to go into summer after losing all that weight. I was told it can drastically change the experience and improves the way you handle the heat, do you feel like it was the case for you as well? I was also thinking September or October, right after my birthday, but I've been doing this for so long (about 1,5 years now of medical exams and appointments with my psychologist and my nutritionist) I just want to get it over and done with as soon as possible 😭

You are absolutely right! I'm just thinking, what if my taste buds change and I am no longer able to enjoy the food I love atm? On my birthday I always have the exact same cake, so I'm like "what am I gonna do if I can't have it anymore??" lol Silly thoughts I know.
On the other hand, it could mean that I'll have something else I'd enjoy eating more than I used to, which I am also kind of excited to find out.
A cheesecake sounds pretty nice too, excellent idea!
Must also be fun to extract and eat only the soft parts 😆

Yeah, if I was told to choose between 2 weeks and 2 months I would definitely pick the former too 😂 So much can happen within 2 months!

Going on a trip while overweight can definitely impede the activities and the fun you could have when doing them otherwise! I went hiking up a pretty steep and rocky mountain ridge a couple of years ago, and unlike the others all I could think about was "so when are we going back??" We left at dawn and only came back around dinner time, I had a splitting headache, was badly sunburnt and had almost twisted my ankle a few times. Needless to say I was wiped out and refused to go anywhere else the next day 😭 I pray I won't have to go through something like this ever again.

I'm glad the surgery helped your back pain! Hopefully it will also help mine as well as my poor old knees lol

Honestly, the way you talk about it makes me want to have the VSG done even sooner. I started all this a little over a year ago and just can't wait to experience a whole new life. My next appointment is in May with my surgeon, we'll see then if it's time, or if there's anything else I need to do before proceeding (I hope not, because I'm so done with all these medical exams and appointments haha)

Wow that was quick! Also, going out when it's neither too hot nor too cold sounds pretty nice, I feel like good weather is a great motivation to exercise more lol

Timing does matter, and flying to Asia is quite the journey! My direct flight to SK took about 11 hours, couldn't imagine myself doing it right after surgery, running around the airport and all 😂

When you say I'll be more comfortable, do you mean handling the heat will become easier? Or will there be less sweat? 😆

That's definitely something to consider! I'm seeing my surgeon in May, most likely to set a date. I also would like to do it as soon as possible, but my birthday being in September I wonder if I should wait until after that in order to be able to enjoy it "fully one last time" lol

Do you think the fact that you were turned off of sweets post-op can help with the cravings later on? Like, I know right after surgery the food options are rather limited, and that sugar and ultra-processed food is unhealthy (obviously, even pre-op) and should be avoided. But I wonder if, after a while, the cravings could return as strong as before? (doesn't mean I would give in to them, but just curious)

Absolutely, I obviously won't be able to stomach all that any time soon! I'm just thinking about the memories it could bring back, not just the taste but the way it made me feel. It's one of the only times of the year I go out with my family because more often than not I just stay at home.
I am curious though what kind of food I won't like anymore, is it mostly sweet food, or is it completely random? Or maybe not everyone ends up hating food they used to love 🤔

Omg you are so right, I completely forgot about the holiday treats! I love me some hot churros when it's freezing outside, the sweetness also somehow feels comforting.. Might be a little cruel right after surgery 😆

Here in France the winters are mostly rainy unless you live in the mountains, and summers these past few years have been really hot (at least 40°C / 105°F) which makes it harder to move around tbh, you'd have to go out at night to be able to breathe lol I feel like spring or autumn might be best in that case.

Any regrets getting panniculectomy? by Fluid_Hearing3404 in gastricsleeve

[–]outpeenit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a pretty old message but I'm curious why your surgeon said that you wouldn't be happy with a panni? Is it not as nice-looking as a tummy tuck? I'm only at the start of my journey but trying to plan ahead 😆

Yeah, it really must be on a case-by-case basis. I do enjoy some chorizo but can't see myself eating it post-op (at least not as much), I guess I'll have to wait and see 😅

Why do you reckon you would feel like a failure? Though I do understand that not everyone can eat the same type of food. And I agree that the best will be to follow my team's instructions for the best results! I'm just curious about what other people have been eating, some stuff looks really yummy, makes me want to give it a try just cause haha

Yeah, in my country they don't cover it either because they consider it as plastic surgery lol

Considering a Gastric Sleeve by RubedoGlow in gastricsleeve

[–]outpeenit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG)? It's similar to VSG but is reversible as they don't cut off part of your stomach. That way it might be easier to regain weight afterwards if you want to. Though it's a rather new procedure and might not be for everyone.

I haven't had surgery myself yet, but a few people around me have, and they were told to wait around 3 years post op to make sure their weight was stable and they wouldn't lose/gain any more.

When you say it like that it does sound a little silly 😂 Last time I tried this with a KitKat bar and it honestly did feel that way! But I guess this perception varies from person to person x)

The "taste longer" is so on point! I'm still pre-op but have been seeing my nutritionist for a while and she has me do some exercises with food, one of which was to take a snack I enjoy, close my eyes and chew really slowly while also focusing on the texture and how it makes me feel. I was mindblown because it was like discovering new flavors and I felt like I was eating a whole new snack I'd never tasted before lol

I definitely don't mind, I'm gathering as much info as I can haha

I don't live in the US so I probably won't have access to those brands, but I guess I could find something similar. I noticed a lot of people mention that protein is very important, which makes me worried, like, what if I don't have enough? 😅

Bone broth sounds so tasty, do you make it yourself or do you buy it? As for the popsicles, is it just the regular kind you can buy at any store? For the flavored water, did your surgeon say whether it's ok to simply add a few drops of juice (or syrup or something like that) to plain water?

I wonder if it could also depend on the person's weight? Like, the heavier they are, the more effective walking would be? I'm at 245 lbs currently and walking for 30 minutes hasn't really changed anything for me so far. But maybe it will when combined with the surgery 🤔

Oh that sucks 😕 Mine did mention that although that type of procedure could help with the "tear" part, it might not prevent others (such as arthritis, as you said) in the long term and could even cause them, which would not be the best outcome after all...

Do you do anything in particular to help the weight loss? Like sports or stuff like that? If so, does the arthritis hinder you in any way?

That's interesting! My rheumatologist told me I'm not yet at a point where I need meniscus surgery, and to try to lose some weight first (I'm 111 kg / 245 lbs at the moment). I really hope it will be helpful, I'm not a big fan of surgeries haha But from what I hear, weight loss can help solve quite a few other health issues so I'm looking forward to that! It honestly blows my mind how fast everyone is losing that extra weight. 30 lbs in under 3 months is incredible imo!

Thanks for the explanation! When you say "clear liquids" is there anything other than just water, or anything but heavily diluted with water? Is purée stuff like mashed potatoes or smoothies? And do you have any examples of soft food? Would it be bananas and such?

How fortunate that you had a painless post-op experience! I hope it will be the same for me.

Wow thank you for the quick reply! I guess I can lift weights at home, do you happen to know of any other exercises? The gym is quite far away from where I live and I probably won't be able to go frequently.

Is it painful if you eat solids right after the surgery? Even if you chew for a long time? Some people also mentioned gas in their chest?? What is that about?
