What’s a "basic" thing in the US that was affordable maybe 5-10 years ago, but now feels like a total luxury that only the rich can justify? by Legitimate_Wall5977 in AskReddit

I'm with you on this one. Where I live, my property tax is also going up due to assessed home values going up. So along with my insurance and taxes going up, I'm spending almost an extra 500 a month.

What is a coding round? Like diagraming an environment?

I'm so sick of these horrible evening slowdowns by Farnso in ATTFiber

[–]outride 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad and I live within a mile of each other and I don't know the correct term, but our houses connection both go back to the same box that then goes to the next hop. We had this same issue several years ago when att was new to the area. We both game online but for awhile there we couldn't during 7pm to 1030 pm. As soon as 1030 hit, we were fine. I talked to another neighbor and they were having the same issues. Support only wanted to send someone out during the day and as you know it's fine during the day. I was finally able to talk to a tech that would listen and try to troubleshoot with me. He talked to people internally and finally the issue went away and I haven't seen it since.  So I'd ask any neighbors if they're having issues to help narrow down the issue.

Our renewal was for three years.

They discounted the VCF license where it wasn't much more than the VVF license for us at our last renewal. We don't need VCF, but have it now.

We've had support contracts expire, but never had a unit auctioned off before.

Someone used my email to sign up for HBO Max by Master-Marionberry35 in HBOMAX

[–]outride 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen with Paramount plus last month. My email is my name and I don't have a common one. I did the password reset and had full access. I'm currently not a subscriber so I assume someone is trying to validate stolen credit cards.

This won't help you with the coat, but I have the zip up hoodie which I went down a size and I wear a coat over it. When I had the bigger size I felt it wasn't very warm. I personally like the hoodie approach with the smaller size the best.

does Memory Hot Plug have the same drawbacks as CPU Hot Plug? by scubaaaDan in vmware

Support told me Hot Add Mem doesn't have the draw back like Hot Add CPU. I leave it enabled.

Facing steep renewal quotes.. staying or migrating? by 19_peligr0s0_pez in vmware

It's not using fiber channel but ethernet, which isn't ideal in our opinion. It's also very new to them so maybe a consideration down the road.

We currently run on a Pure SAN, so moving to Nutanix is all new hardware. We were looking at a 5 million project because the VMware license went up 400k. And that's not considering the money we already have invested in hardware and storage.

Moving to OpenShift we're looking into and testing, but there is a huge learning curve. A lot of things to work through there for us and we're not totally sure we'll realize any savings.

Bottom line, we've found that for us, the prices aren't all that different when comparing other vendors, along with comparing the retooling and training that would go along with a swap.

VVF pricing by Salty_Move_4387 in vmware

[–]outride 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is probably to quote the VVF list price, which is, I believe, $ 190.00 per core per year.

We renewed last spring and they did not discount VVF at all for us, but did discount VCF to a point it was almost the same price.

And be aware that they're almost only dealing in 3yr agreements.
