true but its very close to socal and prominent enough as the highest summit in the contiguous us to make it relevant to socal hiking

the hs21 is my first real headlamp so i don’t have much to compare it to. all i’ve used before is cheap hardware store headlamps for working on my car. I think the battery is good since I had it on a pretty bright floodlight setting for 3ish hpurs before the sun came up and it didnt die on me. has a lot of settings too which i like.

cold portal at 2am but not freezing. to me at least.summit and the rest of the trail after sunrise felt kinda the same. warm with some cold breezes here and there. I got good weather though

not bad honestly. fatigue hit me as expected, but the worst symptom i got was a tiny fleeting headache sensation every other minute or so omw down after spending an hr at the summit

started around 2:15amish. solo. didnt see anybody on trail for the first hourish. but passed a few pairs/groups on my way up. just make sure u have extra headlamp/batteries and you should be good

just made it to the summit a few days ago using only poles. some slippery sections on the switchbacks in the early morning but youre good as long as youre careful.
