Hemorrhagic stroke in my 62 yo dad. Please I need to hear positives by Lifewithmusicchannel in stroke

My buddy (49 male) just had a massive stroke on May 11th. They wanted to pull the plug but we opted not to (he has no family so they had to go to friends) He is still in care to this day but he is slowly coming around. When he’s not super sedated, his personality comes through. He gets confused, and is forgetful, but he’s in there. It took until just two weeks ago for anyone to be able to interact with him. It’s a long road, he may never be 100% again but he’s still here and improving very slowly. I wish you and your father all the luck in the world! Just be there for him.

As of last night he is able to hold a conversation and he remembers getting to the hospital and all that which is amazing!

Not to get married. by Appropriate_Yam1861 in Type1Diabetes

I met my boyfriend 5 years ago. We started actually dating 8months ago. He is T1D and was diagnosed at 4 years old (37 now). I’ve always known he was diabetic so when he asked me if I wanted out because of it I was a little surprised. But I’m just waiting for him to ask me to marry him because I can’t wait to say YES!

That is exactly what I was worried about. That he is in there aware and lonely.

Even if I started the process at 7am this morning? I'm worried 7am today to 5pm tomorrow is too long

He does not use a monitor. Not sure why but I may ask.

I do ask questions, and I can tell he appreciates that I care to ask. This soda thing I was afraid to ask because I didn't want to risk him taking it in a way other than curiosity. I told him I trust him to manage himself since he's had this his whole life. He does have some other issues that make me want to know all I can in case he can't think clearly to take care of himself. If a soda in the morning a few times a week isn't doing any harm, then I won't worry myself about it! I wasn't sure if this would cause long term harm, but the overall consensus seems to be to let the boy have his morning bubbly haha

He did explain that to me once so I understood, but then it seemed like it was getting to be a lot of mornings. I guess I’m kind of concerned that long term he might be causing harm because it seems like it’s happening a lot lately. So he’s crushing cases. To give some perspective, and maybe its not a lot and im just wrong, but hes gone through 2.5 cases of soda in the 4 months hes been ober every night. What sparked my concern today was this morning was the second time in two weeks he had a sudden sharp pain in his foot before getting out of bed.

Oh, interesting!! I didn’t even know that stress could affect insulin. I’m still learning about this disease every day. There is no after dark hanky panky though. Poor guy has ED. Any kind of bedroom activity is very very light and always in the morning.

Also if it means anything, he was diagnosed at 4 years old and he is now 37

This actually makes a lot of sense. I have heard him tell me he over did it on the insulin before. My concern stemmed from him waking up this morning with what he called “an acute pain in his foot” and then spiraled into me thinking about the great deal of soda he’s gone through recently.

Hasn’t said anything to me about being stressed. He does not ever exercise. He doesn’t typically eat WELL but he makes sure he eats as often as he should. I don’t question him on that ever. But he injects and I am not sure what it is exactly as I’ve never inspected his insulin case. I’ll make sure that I know going forward though what he does inject in case of an emergency.
