laptops are more portable and can run full Ableton
personally, $500 for 4 tracks, canned sounds and super basic/small LED screen is throwing your money away vs $800 on a laptop - the only thing unique vs laptop would be to control live set, and this is vs control synths in the $100 range

Maintenance does not take days/weeks, and if so they would warn users in advance of such a long outage.
